Can VC voice command this please
« on: January 22, 2019, 07:22:04 PM »
Hey guys, been a while. I am now trying out MM on my Android. I am using MM to simply run a playlist but whenever i should need to, I want to search for any tune in the library and Play Next or Play Now as it is doing right now, that is all.

Can VC allow me to do this with speech command please so I say for example 'play Iran by flock of seagulls next" or something similar to have the tune play next or now?

Or better yet, can VC run the command from my Android with MM playing on my pc?

I'm not sure I understand the question.  Are you trying to control MediaMonkey which is running on your Android?

In that case, VoxCommando cannot automate other apps that are running on your Android.  Maybe you could do this to some extent with an app like Tasker.

If that's not what you are asking then I don't know what you are looking for that is not already part of the standard MM configuration.

Oh sorry if I wasn't clear. I wish to know if I can use VC on my Android to control MM on my pc with the same search and play function on MM?

Yes. You can use VoxWav on your Android as a WiFi microphone for VoxCommando.

You misunderstand me.  You cannot actually run VoxCommando on Android.

As I said, VoxWav acts as a microphone for VoxCommando.

So you will be using your same VoxCommando configuration that is already running on your PC.

That post is 10 years old and on another forum.

You have been participating on this forum for two years so I just kind of assumed that you had already installed VoxCommando.  My bad I guess!  :biglaugh

VoxCommando can be (always) downloaded from here:

https://voxcommando.com/home/downloads/

Installation instructions: https://voxcommando.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=Installation#Installing_VoxCommando

There is a standard configuration for MediaMonkey as we have for many other programs, and they are all included in the standard installation of VoxCommando.

Some extra installation info for MediaMonkey is here:

I haven't been active on this forum, A while back I was looking into possibly using VC with my DJ software but could not find any friend using my DJ software who wanted to help pay for the customization so I abandoned that idea.

MM is a pretty good software but main reason why I cannot make it my no.1 mp3 playback program is because of the volume normalization. Since I play music on heavy DJ equipment this is a problem with MM so I figure I can possibly use MM for when relaxing keeping the volume low so the volume fluctuation won't be as noticeable.

Reason for wanting to possibly use VC with VW is while relaxing I can use my phone to call up any tune in my MM library without needing to walk over to my pc playing MM, that's the gist of everything.

So I have VC installed and up to this step:

Quote
On the main VoxCommando window, there is a menu at the top:

Click: "GenXML" >> "MediaMonkey" to scan your media library. (MediaMonkey must be running)
Open the [History Window] to view progress as your library is scanned and voice commands are updated.

I have MM, VC and the History window open but not seeing any scanning in both VC windows, is there anything else I should be doing for VC to scan my MM library please?

No I don't think so.

But note that MediaMonkey may need to be run as administrator.

Also VoxCommando could have trouble if your library of songs is too large. Anything over 30000 songs can start to cause issues or at least make scanning take a long time.

Your history window should look something like this:

You could also open the MM plugin and generate XML from there.  You may see more meaningful feedback from there.

Yes my MM library has 38k tracks and the History windows looks like your screenshot.

So what should I do next, simply wait until tomorrow to see if VC scans the library? If yes, how will know when the library has been scanned?

No, it won't help to let it run overnight.

If you're available in the next few days, James can help you directly. You can PM jitterjames to set up a time to share screens in TeamViewer.

TIPS: POST VC VERSION #. Explain what you want VC to do. Say what you've tried & what happened, or post a video demo. Attach VC log. Link to instructions followed.  Post your command (xml)
