Media Monkey vs XBMC
« on: April 16, 2014, 10:46:37 PM »
I have two folder on my desktop. One folder is the xbmc configuration of VC in it. The other folder has media monkey configuration in it. For some reason media monkey seems to accept commands a lot better than the xbmc set up. I am using the voxwv app. using version 1.1.1.9 VC. I'm not sure but it seems as if it takes a little more confidence for xbmc to execute on any commands given.

Is the "required confidence" setting the same in both? http://voxcommando.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=Options

Do you find this to be generally true, or are you noticing the difference with specific commands?

TIPS: POST VC VERSION #. Explain what you want VC to do. Say what you've tried & what happened, or post a video demo. Attach VC log. Link to instructions followed.  Post your command (xml)

Naomi,

I am not with that computer right now so I can't say for sure. I will have a look tomorrow and see. However I do know that both are set to what ever they are set to on default. I have not changed the settings for confidence.

Thanks Paul. At any rate, if you're needing to set a lower confidence rate in order to execute commands more reliably, you can adjust that in the Options and experiment to find what works best for the XBMC configuration and your microphone setup.

Required confidence can also be set within individual commands within the logical command builder window, if specific commands seem more problematic.

Also I wanted to verify that version number again -- 1.1.1.9  for sure?  I ask because the latest version 1 on the downloads page is 1.1.9.1.

Different configurations, different users, different languages, different custom commands, different microphones, different background levels,  different alignment of the planets...

So many variables can affect the confidence that you will see for various commands.

This is why the required confidence is user adjustable.  Please just set it to whatever works best for you in your particular setup.

Thank you Sir. I am going to try that tomorrow when I am with that particular computer. Also what do you find is the best mic setting on the voxwav app?

It depends absolutely on your android device, but I have the best results with the "VOICE_RECOGNITION" setting. A really important setting is in the TcpMic plugin in VC, take a look at this page http://voxwav.wikispaces.com/Other+Settings on "Adjust Volume" checkbox. The wave-form, which you can see in the image is perfect - I have adjust the "Adjust Volume" to 30% which works in my case best, but this depends also at the mic quality in your android device.

Thanks Mr. Kalle! I will try those settings and see what works best. What I would really like to do is be able to just run a configuration that combines both xbmc and media monkey. I have an idea of how that would work by enabling and disabling groups. Is there a tutorial anywhere on how to set something like this up?

Thanks!

Here is a example command group which activate the groups for the focused player and disable the groups for unused player.
In other words: if xbmc is focused, the mediamonkey groups are disable and if MM is focused the xbmc groups are disable.
It is important, that your group names for XBMC contain XBMC at first and also the group names for MediaMonkey contain MM at first - see attached picture.

One thing: It would be nice, you would use the VC search above first - try disable groups and you will get the same information, more than one times, as I have written here. Thanks

Code: [Select]
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>
<!--VoxCommando 1.9.2.1-->
<commandGroup open="True" name="Groups enable-disable" enabled="True" prefix="" priority="0" requiredProcess="" description="">
  <command id="1441" name="enable XBMC Groups" enabled="true" alwaysOn="False" confirm="False" requiredConfidence="0" loop="False" loopDelay="0" loopMax="0" description="">

Just be careful using VC.DisableGroup* and VC.EnableGroup* actions with a short string like MM.

If you have any group names that contain "mm" (example a group named: "test commands") it will be affected.  To be safe you should rename all your mediamonkey groups to start with something like MM_ and then adjust the VC.DisableGroup* and VC.EnableGroup* actions to match.  This is what I have done, and I did the same with with XBMC_

It is working like a charm, Kalle. I did have to add the * in one of the actions though. That is all I had to do though. I really appreciate it. I am catching on. Trying to figure out weather now. Going to watch the video James has on youtube tonight. Also changed the settings for the voxmic as you and James suggested Kalle. It is working like a charm as well. Being a rookie I of course still have a long VC road ahead.

Much appreciated guys and gal. I say gal instead of gals because I think Naomi is the only female here isn't she?
