New vcx owner
« on: September 09, 2013, 07:22:45 AM »
Hello everyone, I just thought I would come and say hi to you all, I'm only about a week old as a vox owner and if some of you remember it's been quite a busy one doing lots of reading and experimenting, I've been trawling your forum picking up lots of great tips and tricks from you all, which I must say its been very handy to be able to learn all the things this fantastic software does, I just hope after a bit of time when I've learnt my way around a bit better I will be able to offer something back to you all. Ok well my names Colin, I live in the uk, I'm running windows 8 pro with a Logitech C920 HD web camera which all seems to be working just fine, I did have to order a USB extension cable, which is on its way just to bring the mic a bit nearer to where I sit, but to be honest I'm about 10ft away from it now and it's coping fine where it is, so it will only get better from here on in, but as I say it really is ok where it is, I've found it a good camera for the job and would recommend to anyone who's interested, ( software is totally pants with the gimmicky stuff tho ) so they need to sort that out, but as a mic it does what it's supposed too, as I say also a windows 8 user which runs the software fine, I've read a few people's posts who asks if W8 is ok to run it, and I can say although I'm still a newbie with VC all is as its supposed to be so far, I've also loaded some off the XML files off the site what people have posted, which has been interesting I must say, so thankyou for all for your help there, I've watched all the videos on you tube which have also been very helpfully, they've been very clear on how to set things up and get off the ground with VC, it seems everyday I do a bit more research and are finding out where all this tech is going to advance in the future, it seems the possibilities will be endless, ok I seemed to have written a bit of an essay here so ile sign off now, I'm not even sure I've put this post in the right place, so if I havnt I do appoligise for that, keep up the fantastic work guys, hats off to all of you clever people out there who put lots of effort into this to make our experience with VC as smooth as possible, I really can't thank you all enough and if I could buy you all a pint I certainly would, thanks again guys, no dought speak to you all soon, Great work.

Welcome to Voxland, Colin.

I'm using VC on a W8 machine too. So far no problems -- with Vox, anyway. Don't get me started on W8.

(Also, thanks for introducing me to the expression "totally pants." You'd think with all the British TV we watch I would have picked that one up by now, but no.)
TIPS: POST VC VERSION #. Explain what you want VC to do. Say what you've tried & what happened, or post a video demo. Attach VC log. Link to instructions followed.  Post your command (xml)

Welcome to Vox Colin,

I am still in the learning phase as well and like yourself I also hope to help people as soon as I get more in tune with Vox. However until that time I can tell you the guys here are really helpful even if it is just to nudge you in the right direction.

Hope you find the learning experience as nice as I have thus far.
