Please share your experience with the latest (pre-Frodo) XBMC nightlies:

I have personally experienced freezing with all the latest versions that I have tried (about 5 different versions) on 3 different computers, all running Windows 7 64bit.  The freezing usually (always?) occurs when I am switching windows, such as from Home to TVShows, or from MovieTitles to Home, or even from System to a system Submenu.  I have no idea what this is about, but I sure hope the XBMC devs figure it out!

I have saved a copy of the last nightly that still includes support for the http api. since it will soon be unavailable at the link above.
For those of you who wish to test the new JSON commands but retain access to the old http commands, you can try this version from October 8th 2012: https://www.dropbox.com/s/o8nzurvm7ekbrem/XBMCSetup-20121008-054a227-master.exe

Of course there may be updates to the JSON api that are added after this point so be prepared for that.

Have you tried any of the most recent nightlies from October?  Are you running 32 or 64 bit windows?

For me it seems to work great, until it just freezes.  I recently installed it on my laptop, which is 32 bit and it has not frozen yet, but I have not really used it enough to say for sure that it won't do it.

My suspicion is that it is related to "dirty regions" because in Frodo this feature has been turned on by default.  In Eden, I tried turning this feature on, and although it took a while, my Eden froze too, in a similar manner.  I do hope they figure it out though because XBMC without dirty regions is incredibly wasteful of CPU resources.  If I leave my HTPC on the TVshow Titles screen for a few minutes the fans will start to "spin" up and become quite loud as the CPU gets hotter.

I tried to turn this feature off in Frodo but it didn't seem to make any difference.
