vc and whs2011
« on: December 11, 2011, 10:02:44 AM »
hallo,

Options: ther are no suitable languages for speech on this system

Sprache habe ich nur Deutsch installiert.

funktioniert diese Kombination überhaupt?

Danke

The error message you are getting indicates that there is no language pack installed on your Windows Operating System that can support speech recognition.

In windows 7 the following languages are supported "English, French, Spanish, German, Chinese, Japanese"

I am not familiar with Windows Home Server, but if you have the German Language Pack installed I would expect it to work.  Are you able to run windows built-in speech recognition?  Usually if you can run that, you won't have problems with VoxCommando.

hi,

thanks for the fast answer. The german language pack is already installed, sure but in WHS 2011 there is no speech recognition. I think this is only built in Windows 7?!

now i  had installed the english language pack too but same error message :(

Speech recognition is part of all normal versions of Windows 7 and Vista, but it looks like WHS is not really an OS intended to be used in the same way as a normal OS.  Sorry.

It seems to me (in my limited knowledge) that the only reason to install an OS like Windows Home SERVER is if you have multiple devices computers etc.  Don't you have another computer in the house using Vista or Win7 that you could use to test VoxCommando?

No solution jitterjames to implement speech recognition in WHS2011? :D

Jemand Ahnung was man davon alles braucht?

I don't know if it is possible at all with WHS but if you are going to try to make it work you need to find a way to install SAPI 5.3, not 5.1  5.1 was the version that shipped with XP.

You also need to make sure that you have .net 3.5

SAPI 5.3 is not something you can download by itself but it may be possible by downloading a larger SDK package.  Of course there is always the possibility that doing this will cause other problems.

If you need to, please attach jpg images or other files directly to your post, instead of using a file upload service which is very inconvenient for people who want to view the file.

Just click "additional options" at the bottom left when composing your message on the forum (probably you did not notice this).  Thanks.

One note I would like to make, if you have XBMC running on the WHS machine, you can still run VoxCommando on another computer in your home that is running win7 or vista and control XBMC through the LAN.

good luck
