@kalle I plan to buy exactly that a Zotac zbox : ZOTAC ZBOX HD-ID40
With ION next gen GPU, 4Gigs ram and a true dualcore "Intel® Atom D525 (dual-core) (1.8 GHz)"
So you would reckon this will run smoothly James ?
Auri,
what is the price with RAM (DDR2 is not the best variant) and HDD, and there has no DVD or Bluerayplayer. I have this one ZOTAC ZBOX Blu-ray HD-ID34 (450 EUR by Amazon) it run without artefact's on Blueray's or DVD's and only 37 Watt in fullmode.
Kalle
Well I know DDR2 is not the best and that DDR3 and 4 (which will come out this year I think) is superior, but you have to look at what the barebone/htpc is going todo.
I reckon to run vox and XBMC 4Gb's of DDR2 800 is more then enough, I also have a USB blu-ray drive so I don't want to pay extra for that since I have it already.
So in short, yeah there are alot better HTPC's on the market, but they cost ALOT more also, the HD-ID40 costs 239 including taxes and transportation.
Also I have a broken laptop here where I can take 2x 160GB Sata 3.0 Gbps 7200 rpm HDD's from and that is more then enough so also there I do not need to invest in, so in the big picture, I think it's the best option.
Only problem is, it does not have an IR receiver. I plan to buy the logitech Harmony One remote control and that doesn't come with an USB IR receiver either
130 for a remote without a receiver is MEH but it's such a nice one
Any tips where I could find good and cheap USB IR receivers ?
Regards
Auri
