Forum problem
« on: February 01, 2011, 01:07:48 PM »
I'm not sure where I would need to ask this question so I'll just do it here.

Perhaps this is me not doing it right, but everytime I reply to post the "edit window" where I would type me reply is annoying me like hell, jumping all over the place with it's internal slide bars.  It's only when I reply and specially when it's alot of text like when pressing the "quote" baloon so that a previous post is inside your edit windows.

When I'm typing a new thread like this I have no problem what so ever.

I'm using IE 8

It's true, the forum software doesn't seem fond of IE8 (or vice versa).

That said, I think I would have labeled this thread "Internet Explorer problem" not "Forum problem." :bonk

I gave up on IE long ago because this type of thing happens so much. Is there some reason you need to stick with it? Or can you at least use another browser when posting to the forum?

TIPS: POST VC VERSION #. Explain what you want VC to do. Say what you've tried & what happened, or post a video demo. Attach VC log. Link to instructions followed.  Post your command (xml)

I dont' know.  This is a Simple Machines Forum.  It is used by many many people.  I normally use Chrome, but I'm writing this in IE8 and it seems fine.

Weird.

As I type this message right now, I don't have any problems but once you surpass this text box and the scroll bars become active, it's game over.
Could you guys try and quote some wall of text or just see if you have same problem when there is a lot of text ?

To answer the IE8 question, I don't have to use IE8 but I'm used to it, I have mozilla on this computer also, but tend to never use it for some reason.

I use chrome and I love it.  Occasionally if a site has a problem with chrome I'll switch back to IE temporarily.

OK It's clear then, it's in IE problem and not a forum problem.

Offtopic - Whats so good about chrome James ? Anything notable vs lets say mozilla ?

yes that's very off topic.  It's fast and light.  Loads way faster than mozilla.  Stable and safe.

If you have the time this is a good read:

http://www.google.com/googlebooks/chrome/

It's also got some cool built in stuff like bookmark sync.  I'm sure there are plugins for mozilla that do the same thing but hey, it's built in.  If you use gmail like I do, I think it goes well with that.
