Windows 10 Notification
« on: May 25, 2016, 01:24:37 PM »
recently I upgraded my VC PC to windows 10, as well as all other PCs I own. from other apps I am finding windows 10 notification is more and more useful. at this point it would be great if I can send windows 10 notifications from VC, to keep track of certain type of Events

Yeah,

I was thinking that too.  I don't use Windows 10 much yet but I did notice the notifications are improved and had already thought about adding this.  I'll put it on my list.

That would be a cool feature, I will be keeping an eye out for this in upcoming releases :-)

Basic notification has been included in 2.2.1.9 which I just uploaded.

The new action is VcAdvanced.Notify

Nice one James, thanks for adding that, I have been adding it to my commands and it looks and works great.

Is there anyway to make the notifications clickable for a security alert for example, to click it and have it load a program or url?

Anyway to make the notification remain on screen until clicked to close?

Cheers and great feature.

No, it's not possible.

Yes, I think you can simply use a very large number for the time-out.

is there a way to send it to multiple PCs ? I receive insteON alerts on multiple PCs
I also noticed that the notification do not stay in Action Center (win10) unless I open the action center while the notification displayed ...

As well, notifications that appears in windows 10 action center are clickable ... so if the can be customized for each notification, it will be great addition, as we will be able to define one click responses to interact with VC

None of that is going to happen until I move my entire development system to Windows 10 which is highly unlikely to happen any time soon since I am very happy with Windows 7 and not a huge fan of Windows 10.

If it were possible to make a plugin for Windows 10 while still keeping the main program developed in 7 that would be a different story, but I seriously doubt it's an option.

The method I'm using now is backwards compatible with Windows 8, 7, and probably even Vista.

Sorry if you folks are not happy with what I provided.  :-[

would a virtual machine make that possible? so you use it just to develop these plugins?

personally I am more happy ....  your efforts are always highly appreciated, and you always go beyond our expectations ....
