May Interest Some...
« on: December 25, 2013, 10:48:28 AM »
Hi guys
Just wanted to post a link to my new website. Im dealing with:
•   Voxcommando
•   Tasker
•   Dropbox
•   XBMC
•   And Micasaverde’s Vera Lite
In order to create a JARVIS like artificial assistant. Just thought you guys might like to see how I am tying it all together. Would love some input on how I could improve my system too!

Nice.  I look forward to seeing how the site progresses.  No worries about "advertising" since your site is helping to promote VC.

A couple small things I could mention.

1 - It's VoxCommando, not VoxCommand.  (a typo I'm sure - but a common one).
2 - There is nothing in the world of VC that we call an "event tree" and it might confuse people because we do actually have a tree and we do actually have events.  In the context that you are using the term I think you mean "command tree".
3 - I notice that you have a command that can be triggered by simply saying "eat" (because the phrase before it is marked optional).  This is a personal choice but commands like this can very easily lead to false positives.  Single syllable commands can easily be triggered by any kind of percussive sound that reaches your microphone.

Thanks for sharing and thanks for potentially introducing VC to new users!  ;D

Interesting, we look forward to see a video in action  ;)

I notice also in the same command as James that you use a payloadlist optional at first with only one phrase "Suggest something to". In this case you can use it as "normal" phrase and the second one "Meal, eat, food" as an payloadlist (optional if you want).
We using a optional phrase mostly in a other way - for example:

If you create a command like "switch lights in livingroom on" so you can set as first a optional phrase like "please" - "switch lights in livingroom on", so the command will work with and also without the "please".

Here is example command for a groceries list which have two optional phrases:

I hope you know what I mean  ;)

Hi there and thank you for sharing this with us. I have just had a quick look at your site and I already took some nice tips away :)
I believe my setup is going to be very similar to yours so this will help me greatly so thanks a lot.

PS just wondering if Bit Torrent Sync as opposed to Dropbox ever crossed your mind? Also look for my 2 posts under general today as there might also be something that might tickle your fancy there.

Keep up the great work on the website and thank you again for sharing
