In this video I show you how to make a low profile magnetic tablet wall mount for around $35, I use two of these now in my house and they work great, the family loves the easy access to the smart home control panels (wall tablets). and you can grab the tablet right off the wall up, unplug the charger and take the tablet with you, with out much hassle.

Great video, thanks for posting. Really well explained.

Looks like we can find more info on all the hardware you used in the video description on YouTube -- is that a complete list?
TIPS: POST VC VERSION #. Explain what you want VC to do. Say what you've tried & what happened, or post a video demo. Attach VC log. Link to instructions followed.  Post your command (xml)

Thank you,  :)

I did a lot of research and couldn't find anything out there that looked good for android tablets, Ipad wall mounts are almost everywhere but the good looking ones are also expensive so I decided to make my own, and it worked so well that when I went to install my second one I thought I would share the build.

Very nice build. It was a real aha moment for me when I realized you used cupboard liner.

Thank you Kalle and Jitterjames,

the first one I made I used a three gang box like this one and used six neodymium magnets to hold the tablet in place and I wasn't quite happy with the price and look when I took the tablet off the wall.

so when I reduced the amount of magnets I needed something to stop the tablet from sliding down the plate, although the tablet never fell off the wall it would slide down until the magnets where at the top of the metal plate on the tablet, so you could see the top of the wall plate. hence the foam pad (cupboard liner) I had some left from a shop project but it was black so I tested it and bought white when I knew it would work.

with my first build I was able to use 1/2 inch ENT Conduit (because I had the walls stripped down to the studs for our remodel) so I could replace the charger cord with ease... but it's a major pain to use it with an old work box, so for now I don't have one for this wall mount until I remodel the hallway where the second wall mount is installed

at some point I'll need to put my video together from our Living room remodel  ::eyebrows, I was smart enough to do a brief before, during and after video so I could make one, but got side tracked and forgot about it until I made this video

Hi PegLeg,

maybe I have a improvement.
There are a lot of Neodym-magnets in different form and sizes available (some of them self-adhesive).
Maybe you can use one flat magnet (60mm x 10 mm x 3mm) instead of 3 round magnets and if they are not self-adhesive you can use double-sided adhesive tape. This could also be used to attach the metal plate to the backside - this would save the use of two-component adhesive.

PS: I have noticed in the video (6:50) you have a smok-alien which I have too  ;)

I purchased my magnets from a local hardware store and all they had where the round ones, but when I was looking for links for the magnets I did find the rectangle ones like you linked to and thought those would probably work just as well and like you said the self adhesive tape would be an added plus for the magnets, I didn't mention them because I'm not sure how well they will work... but I do think they are worth trying.

I tried two different double sided tapes with attaching the metal to the tablet, but eventually the tape would break free from the tablet when pulling the tablet off the wall and the metal plate would still be attached to the wall plate, I would prefer to use double sided tape as it would be cheaper then using the Loctite Epoxy Plastic Bonder, and it could be removed if you decide to use the tablet for something else. but I didn't have any luck finding a double sided tape that held up well over time, however I did find that you can buy just the metal plate with double sided tape for $9.99us from a company that makes a similar wall mount but they are more expensive

If it had been any other step I could have re-shot the clip when I noticed I left it on camera ::duh, but what can you do lol. and if your going to vape you might at well use a good mod  ;)

Thanks for sharing I had a similar idea and desire to do something similar when I get my own place and have no experience or knowledge so this will help.
