Hue plugin not finding bridge ?

I recently bought the Phillips hue and the plugin is having a hard time connecting to the bridge. I tried hard reset and nothing happened its paring with the Phillips website and app fine and i checked to make sure the IP addresses are the same and they are any suggestions ?

This does not belong in bug reports yet.

I've never had any issues connecting or heard of anyone who has.

Did you create a firewall exception the first time you ran VoxCommando?

To test you can start by disabling your firewall completely.

And of course VC must be running on the same subnet of your LAN as the Hue.

If you are getting some sort of error message when you connect please give us the exact message and tell us exactly what steps you have followed.

I think that Philips made a drastic change to the way new users connect to the Hue.

I'm working on a solution right now.

Here is an updated version of the plugin that will hopefully fix the problems created by the changes to the Philips api.

First completely close VoxCommando.

Then replace the Hue.dll in your VC\Plugins\Hue folder with the attached file.

After downloading and replacing the file you will probably need to "unblock" the dll file.  Right click the file then click "properties", and then click the "Unblock" button at the bottom right (if there is one).


.dll removed, get the latest version of VC instead.

Now I get a new problem everything was working and Its all fine but I randomly got an error that says SRGS: can't compile grammar into cfg!. 'one-of' must contain at least one "item" element.

Just checked groups and it only is missing grammars for the hue group folder i have. All actions still trigger it's just the grammar that seems to be the issue.

Is that with the stock commands or did you modify them?

If you modified them please send me your voice commands XML and payload files.

Found the problem!! after poking around i found that i didnt add a payload to one of the commands

I'll start with I'm a newbie like many, but have been doing my best to learn this. I too had problems connecting to my hue and thought it was just my lack of understanding. My problem is Vox can't seem to connect to my hue bridge, and I can't figure why after going through the forums, and reading and reading. I updated the hue.dll file as stated and unblocked the file. I know I'm missing something, and a point in the right direction would be greatly helpful. Anyway, I hope I meet the criteria for posting. So here we go.

I'm am running VoxCommando version 2.2.0.9
I open the Hue plugin from Vox, get my bridge IP, click connect, and this is the error message I get:

Unexpected error: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Newtonsoft.Json, Version=7.0.0.0, Culture=neutral,

I can't connect to my hue bridge, I'm sure I'll have fun and etc later after, but for now I'm not sure of the direction to head in to solve my problem. (First post, trying to follow the forum rules and such best I can)

Welcome to the forum.

You're using a relatively old version of VC, and it's possible that with this brand new version of the Hue plugin there is a compatibility issue.

Please try updating to one of the recent releases of VC currently on the downloads page (http://voxcommando.com/home/downloads/), then follow the instructions for replacing the Hue plugin once again and let us know how it goes.

I can not believe I didn't see that. I read it about updating, looked at it, checked it, and for some reason it just didn't click. I'm so sorry, and thank you so much for the help. It works, and very well now.

Knowing the version number you had installed and the error message you received made it easier to suggest a course of action.

The new Hue plugin will be integrated into the next release, which should make it easier for everyone.
