TTS.Speak
« on: July 14, 2014, 05:35:35 PM »
Using the above only some of the words are spoken. If the full sentence is:"These are the enabled voice commands". Only the words heard are:"voice commands"
This happens on Windows 8.1. I have the trail on Windows 7 and it works well. Please advise what additional info is required to assist with resolving this. Thanks for any help.

Strange.  I have no idea.  One more reason for me to dislike Windows 8.

I suggest you try a few different commands and combinations to see if this happens consistently, or if there are any patterns.  Are you using another program at the same time like XBMC?  It could be that the audio output is taking time to switch modes etc.

What if you have two TTS actions in a row in a single command macro?

Try different things.  Let us know if you discover anything new.

Thanks. Have tried two TTS actions in a row, Do not use XBMC, no other program running at same time, also tried different commands. However no luck so far. Will continue to try additional things and report back if there is any success.

Also: which TTS voice is it happening with, and have you tried with different TTS voices?

Since you're using VoxCommandoSP.exe, if you're not able to solve the problem with regular SAPI 5 TTS voices, you could try downloading one of the MS Speech Platform TTS voices (http://voxcommando.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=MS_Speech_Platform), enabling the TTSMS plugin, and testing whether TTSMS.Speak works better for you.
TIPS: POST VC VERSION #. Explain what you want VC to do. Say what you've tried & what happened, or post a video demo. Attach VC log. Link to instructions followed.  Post your command (xml)

Also, does it happen with both Speak and SpeakSync?

If you have multiple audio outputs, you could check to see whether using a different output makes any difference.

Have tried two TTS actions in a row.

Can you elaborate on this?  What happens exactly.  The first part of each action is cut off?  Is it exactly the same for both?  Does it matter what you use as the spoken text?

I will check and respond to the questions raised but just noticed that using the green button under the command builder to test, the words are cut off but when used while playing music in MediaMonkey, the words can regularly be heard. Just thought I would mention this while I prepare answers for the previous questions.

Maybe your system plays a sound on mouse click and that is interfering.

If it is only a problem during testing, then it is not really a problem for actual use, right?

So far yes. I will continue testing to ensure it is consistent.

@nime5ter

I tried changing the present voice ZiroPro to Hazel but it did not change. In windows and under options.

Could this be connected with the microsoft speech recognition and not Vox? When  I preview the voice in windows 8.1, speech properties, the first three words are not spoken.

It seems clear to me that it is a Windows issue, and not related to VC, but it doesn't seem to have anything to do with speech recognition.

I still think it has something to do with a mouse-click and possibly a sound effect scheme used by Windows.  Since it only happens when you click to initiate TTS, I would not lose too much sleep over it.

Some adjustments in windows settings had changed somehow. I also reinstalled VC 2.000 and set it up on the standard not SP as before. This did it and all is working again so far.

I did try to change the voice but no change was made. I will search the wiki and if I cannot find what is wrong, I will again seek some help.

Thanks for the help previously.
