Its working! Strange but I turned Sox off and I've got 90%+ recognition. Probably a Layer 8 problem  :bonk
Thanks for the suggestions Kalle and James.

I can't see the X10 plugin- its available in the plugin list but does not load. I've tried VC 0939 up to 0960b. Other plugins load and are available after Full Restart.

I'm having low volume issues with VoxWav with both a Galaxy S2 and a XOOM tablet, both running ICS. The .wav file sounds fine when I play it back. But recognition is in the 40% range. I'm currently running 960b and 1.2b but have had volume issues throughout all releases. Do I need to create a new profile or use some gain with Sox?

That's great James!

I'm interested in your comment about 2 modes. Are you thinking that one would use Google for recognition and the other just sending audio to VC? Have you figured how to overcome the WiFi quality issues?

I have both a ICS phone and tablet so I'm hoping for an early XMAS present ;D

Kalle and James,

Sorry I meant Android but typed IOS  :bonk

I've been playing with DroidWebCam and WO Mic from Google Play. A couple of small apps that I thought could be useful as they also come with Windows DLL files that create a new microphone in your Windows Recording control panel- no need for virtual audio cable.  Both have limitations though as the voice quality over WiFi is poor- I'll report back with more if I get some success.

James,

Are you considering putting a UDP broadcast into your (hopefully) new IOS app that can trigger EvenGhost or VC? Could this be a possible solution- upon receiving the right packet, a mute or soft mute could be initiated, allowing for high accuracy speech recognition. ? I too carry my cell phone with me everywhere and would prefer using it, rather than Amulet.

I agree. Great job to all, especially James as one of the few forums I read daily!

Happy Birthday to Canada tomorrow as well!

Feature Requests / Time of Day
« on: February 25, 2012, 05:38:27 PM »
Is there anyway I can fire an event based on the time of day or day of week or day/month, etc.?

VC.SetEventTimer sort of starts the idea- anyway to improve on it?

I guess I could look at some EG Python work using eg.Scheduler but I'd rather not!

Thanks.

Feature Requests / Multiple Speaker Control
« on: January 07, 2012, 06:21:34 PM »
I'm trying to look into controlling multiple speakers throughout my house via VC. I'm in design mode but here is a scenario:

If I had 4 pair of speakers connected to my audio system via an impedance protected speaker switch, I could then run them through a bunch of relays and control which speakers/combinations would be on. This way, I could have music on in specific rooms of the house or one whole floor or the whole house. Some forums out there suggest that X10 relays don't switch fast/accurate enough and suggest a serial controlled relay.

Does this make sense? Could VC send a serial command out of the COM port as an Action?

This is a very interesting thread!

I, too, am interested in multi-room VC. I appreciate that it may take analogue mics plus mixer, or maybe stationary wireless mics (how about x Amulets mounted in some sort of in-wall enclosure?!). But I am interested in working on a lower cost solution, other than a "shure" solution. By using different voice profiles, I see this system moving towards whole home audio, video, PC and automation control.

With the recent press on SpeakToIt and Siri, I see VC becoming a front end in a home infotainment solution. Am I dreaming or with some forum help, could we find some way to accomplishment this?

Home automation?

With USB UIRT support via EventGhost, we can get at STB, receiver, TV control but how about looking at a USB serial interface to something like X10 (CM19A) or a Zwave controller?

VoxCommando Basics and Core Features / Re: Help with Events
« on: April 12, 2011, 08:57:10 PM »
Just watching the federal debate- working on VC is much more fun (and worthwhile ;D) Sorry for the confusing post.

I just tried to simulate the described condition and all is working fine! Maybe it was a re-boot that fixed it but probably a layer 8 problem  :bonk

Sorry- should have tried some options/more trouble shooting before posting..............

VoxCommando Basics and Core Features / Help with Events
« on: April 11, 2011, 10:56:00 PM »
I have a problem with events on 0.875. All seem to be working fine- events trigger actions, no problem.

I am having difficulty with an event when it is used to action mutliple, different groups. In the Command Tree, I have an event that triggers 3 actions- to enable/disable different Groups. The command only works if the command has one or two actions- all actions work. But when I add a third action, only 2 of the actions work- the third is ignored. It appears to be ignoring the first action in the list of three. I know the event itself is fine as it triggers a single action.

Could it be a timing issue?
