voxwav error
« on: April 09, 2014, 10:32:09 PM »
I just installed VC on my fiances computer. Everything is setup and working fine except when I give just 2 or 3 commands using voxwav i get two error messages on the phone screen. They are listed below.

error recording audio

unable to access the audio recording hardware

tcp error

could not establish connection to 192.168.2.9 port 3333

We are using VC version 1.1.9.1
Computer has windows 7 installed
Phone is android version 2.3.6 running gingerbread
Model is sch-r720

Thanks!

"could not establish connection to 192.168.2.9 port 3333"

After take a look on your error message which you post here, I'm not sure it is a literal or not.
There is a missing digit in the port 3333X

Check your port settings in the TcpMic plugin in VC or in VoxWav on your phone.

VoxCommando will show you also events in the history window when you press the mic button - did you enable the TcpMic plugin in VC?
You've write "Everything is setup and working fine except when I give just 2 or 3 commands using voxwav i get two error messages on the phone screen."
Did that mean VoxWav doesn't work at all? If yes, please read this: http://voxwav.wikispaces.com/Installation

Sorry Kalle. That was a typo. There is a 9 at the end.

My installation for voxwav follows your instructions on the wiki. I would imagine it is set up right or it would not work at all. The error is sporadic. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Ahh, ok - so it looks like your WLAN connection from your android device to the netwook is sometimes lost or a other device has open the port which you use for VoxWav. Check that you are stay not to far from your WiFi spot and you can also try a other port in TcpMic settings.

Is this one error, or two different errors?  Anyway, I don't know what could be causing this.  Maybe it just doesn't like that phone.

To help you more efficiently (if we can help at all), the best option would be for you to:

1. Enable logging in VC Options.
2. Video record exactly what you're doing and what's happening, including what microphone, IP, and port settings you have in VoxWav.
3. Post the video somewhere and share the link to your video here.
4. Attach the complete VC log that was created during that process to the same post.

TIPS: POST VC VERSION #. Explain what you want VC to do. Say what you've tried & what happened, or post a video demo. Attach VC log. Link to instructions followed.  Post your command (xml)

I think you are right, James. I believe it is the phone. I tried it on another computer and another network and still have the same problem. The phone is just a cheap prepaid phone I had laying around I was going to dedicate to just voxwav.

I have a samsung SCH-S720C android 2.2 phone and am also getting the "Unable to access the audio recording hardware". I wonder if Voxwav just isn't compatible with these older phones. Is there a list somewhere of phones voxwav has been tested successfully on?

In my case successfully tested on a Samsung Galaxy S2 and on a Smartwatch Simvalley AW-414.go, both with Android 4.2.x JellyBean.

No there is no official list.  Did you try changing the audio input in the app settings?  Is it possible you have another app open that is using the audio?

We have tested it and it works fine on this very inexpensive older 2.2 phone

http://www.phonearena.com/phones/Huawei-U8150-IDEOS_id4917

Obviously we can't test on everything.

Well I can't explain it, but now it is working. Yesterday I tried changing every setting and couldn't get it to work. Today I open the app and it is working. I don't know what changed. Maybe I did have some other app running that isn't now.

Next step I'll plug in my X10 CM15a and see what I can control. This is going to be fun.
