Problem to get Vox running :(
« on: June 26, 2011, 03:56:43 AM »
Hello Community,

at first... James you rock! I saw your application on different youtube videos, and my first opinion was "maaaan, THIS is the future!" ;)

I'am a german User and i try to get Vox working on my Win7 System + XBMC. (Windows 7 Language is German).
I use the Aeon MQ 2 Skin and i go straight through your XBMC Tutorial -> port, name, firewall -> all done.

But Vox dont reply to my voice requests -> here a picuture of my "log"

In other videos i saw a "microphone" on the left side of a command (like this:)

i have "only" a question mark. Is there a option, i overlooked? My Microphone works well in other Application like TeamSpeak.

Thanks for your help!

With kind regards

Hi UltraM,

Welcome to the forum UltraM  :D

you must set the VC speech language to English if you are going to use English commands.  In your first post you show the history window and it says it is using the German engine.  Then you are saying English commands like "ignore me", "go home".  It is understanding you but it is not confident enough.

When you get the ? icon in the history window, it is because the confidence is too low.  The % next to the question mark is the confidence and it must be higher than the required confidence that you set in Options.  If the confidence is high enough you will get the megaphone icon instead of the ? icon.

If you only have German installed on your version of windows then you should use German phrases in your commands.  In this case, you should get a German configuration from Kalle, or you should edit the tree and replace the phrases with German.

If you want to install English on your windows it is possible.

Once you get the megaphone, the commands should work.  If you get megaphones and nothing is happening, then we need to look at your settings for xbmc, but at least the basic commands like "pay attention" and "ignore me" should always work!

hey,

ok - it works now :D

but only for german speech and commands - when i use a german command in combination with a english movie or music artist, vox doenst find the right link.
I use Windows 7 Home Premium, i can only use english commands, when i install the english language package, so that my whole system is english?

Is it possible, to change the language in my System for free?

with windows Ultimate and some other editions of Windows you can install additional language packs for free through Windows Update.  It is possible to install an English language pack and use it only for speech recognition in VoxCommando.  You will still be able to keep the display language set to German for the rest of windows.

If you do not have an edition of Windows that allows you to install additional languages, you can still do it by using a simple hack.  Others have reported success doing this but I have not tried it myself.

See this thread for more information on installing languages hack: http://voxcommando.com/forum/index.php?topic=404.msg2557#msg2557

Unfortunately we can only use one language at a time, so you have to decide which to use.  Many people use the english engine, and are still able to use commands in other languages by spelling words phonetically.  If you do this, you must never use accents because the English engine does not understand them.
