Voxcommando with a Hot Tub
« on: March 05, 2011, 03:19:31 PM »
I just bought a license for Voxcommando because I liked it so much.

I needed a way to control my XBMC without having to use remote controls or the keyboard at all.   I have a setup where the laptop sits on the deck and while I'm in the hot tub, I just say voice commands to control XBMC!  Luckily, the onboard mic on my laptop is *just* good enough for me to be 3/4 feet away and speak normally and have Vox know what I'm saying!

Then using "Ignore Me" helps by making the Mic not pick up what's playing through the speakers until I want it to "pay attention"!

I look forward to having a setup where Vox can get a command from me and return a canned response using the speech feature (like Star Trek).

Perfect setup for when you don't want to get anything wet 'n' ruined!

Nothing like Aeon MQ2, XBMC and Voxcommando!

Hi lightshow,
welcome in the Vox-Forum. Use the prefix-mode, to turn Vox automatic in ON and Standby, that is the easier way  ;D
For StarTrek feeling, you can use the TTS command's.

and don't forget that TTS can give a random response if you separate possible responses with a | symbol

example:

TTS.speak    Okay | Sure thing | You got it | Right away boss

and you can use payloads too

TTS.speak  now playing {1} | Here are some songs by {1}  |  dig these fly ditties by {1}  | soak up these hot tunes by {1}

ahhhh, I crack me up... ;D

There is also the pandorabot and I think that this is something that we should explore more...

Yes, he only speaks English.

The next version will have a friend that speaks German.  Are you interested in teaching him?

OK, cool.  I created one here if you want to test it a bit.

http://www.pandorabots.com/botmaster/en/summary?botid=f5f7404cee346cc7

But maybe you should create your own (it's free).  Then you can send me the link and I will connect VC to it.  Otherwise I will have to find and change the password that I used to create my account.

Unfortunately I don't know much about training bots so you will have to figure it out yourself, or find someone else to help you.  Remember, this is just for fun, so if you are not having fun, stop!  There is no rush at all.

thanks.
