trying to install Nest
« on: February 06, 2015, 07:59:34 AM »
Hello,

I am working on setting up Nest and am getting error. I say "Login to Nest" and it comes back with can't compile grammar into cfg.  Do you know what I might be doing wrong? Please let me know if you need anything else as I am new to all of this.
One thing I did sign up to be on Nest's Beta software, and maybe have a different version.  (not sure if that makes a difference or not.)

By the way this software is awesome. ;)

Hi TCC

What version of VoxCommando are you using?

Please provide both a version number and tell us if you are using the SP or regular exe.

I am using voxcommando 2.1.3.8. I have 1 nest thermomstat and 1 nest protect. I do not know what you mean by the SP or regular.exe :-[

There are two executables

VoxCommando.exe
VoxCommandoSP.exe

If you were using the SP version you would probably know, but the error you are seeing is more common in SP.

You can try to go into the group called "nest commands" and remove any commands that you think you won't need, or break the commands up into two groups.  Save the tree and try again.

The error usually comes from having too many commands in a group, especially commands with multiple similar payloads or optional phrases in them.  But I'm not sure why you are getting it from this group because we've tested it quite a bit and had no problems, not even with the SP version of VC.
