VoXCommando with XBMC and Mi Casa Verde
« on: March 24, 2013, 02:19:29 PM »
Hi all,

New to this!  ;D
Just wondering how vox will integrate with the above.
Can Verde send 'speech' commands to any XBMC units?
Can any XBMC unit 'listen' for a command and control not just itself but Verde?

Any other help/info much appreciated!

Cheers

P.S My XBMC is Linux based; is this an issue??

Hi pocster,

Thanks for joining us on the VC forum.

VoxCommando (running on Windows Vista or later) can talk to XBMC regardless of what platform XBMC is running on.  Information is sent through the Network.

I don't really understand the rest of your question.  What is it that you want to do, specifically, with Mi Casa Verde's Vera3 or VeraLite?

I don't see how Vera can send a "speech" command, only VoxCommando can do that.  Vera can probably interact directly with XBMC but VoxCommando is not involved in that.

We can control and query XBMC from VoxCommando
We can control and query Vera from VoxCommando

Both XBMC and Vera can generate "Events" that VoxCommando can then react to, so it is possible for VC to detect that a light is on, a door has been opened, or that a motion sensor has been tripped, and react by doing any number of things, including sending a command to XBMC.  So for example, VC could ask XBMC to play a certain song, when the basement light is switched on, or VC could ask Vera to dim the lights when a movie starts playing in XBMC.

Do you own a Vera Home Automation controller already?
