the skype4com api (which allows VC to talk to skype) is very unpredictable on x64 systems.
I have no problem on my 32 bit system, but with my 64bit system (Win7) I have to make some adjustments to get it to work.
Here is what I did today and it works fine:
1) uninstall skype
2) disable UAC
3) shut down / restart windows (in other words: do a full reboot)
4) install version 4.2.0.187 of skype
here is a link to get this version:
http://www.oldapps.com/skype.php?old_skype=93when you first start the installer there is a button labeled "options". click that and check that "extension manager" is being installed.
after that it should work. I actually prefer this version. It works very well. It is the latest version 4 so it has less bugs, and less annoying popups and advertising than version 5.
I have tried to find information on this issue online but I can't find anything. Skype does not offer much support of this feature. If you insist on using windows 64bit with the latest version of skype, or you feel that you need to have UAC turned on then you will just have accept that you cannot control skype with VoxCommando.
