Prefix mode/required confidence
« on: April 15, 2011, 08:21:52 PM »
Is it possible to set the required confidence for the prefix only to something higher, like 95%?

I'm having a hard time coming up with a prefix that doesn't trip every once in awhile to lyrics or people talking/singing (it's not that bad--maybe like 10% of the time).  I've tried "eye tunes" "computer" and "Gladys."

I'd like to keep the confidence threshold at 80% for everything else though, as that's working well.

Possible?  Thanks!

I don't think this is possible.  I'll try to look into it though.

you could try experimenting with "honey pots".  In this case a honey pot would be a command that sounds similar to your prefix that doesn't do anything.

I'm not too clear on what you are looking exactly either.

Generally a confidence number is generated for the phrase as a whole.  There may also be a confidence value for each word (I have to check).  But is it the case that you want to require the prefix itself to have a certain confidence, or that when you are in standby, any command triggered using the prefix requires a higher overall confidence?

Both / Either may make sense, but I'm just wondering what you were thinking.

I want the prefix itself to have a certain confidence.

For example, if my prefix is "Gladys," I want VC only activate when it KNOWS I'm saying "Gladys," so I'd want to be able to set the required confidence to something like 95% for that word only.

This way, if I was saying something like "glad its..." or "Kravitz" or "mechanics" it doesn't accidentally trigger my prefix.

Maybe there's a good prefix that's not annoying to say over and over and hardly ever gets tripped up, but I haven't found it yet!

Thanks.

OK.  It is unlikely that it will ever be able to reliably tell the difference between "Gladys" and "Glad its" though!

Yeah, I figured.  That would be pretty darn impressive.  But do you think there's a chance to tighten it up a bit?

OK.  I think I can do this.  I'll put it into the next version (0.886)

It will only check the first word, so if your prefix is a "baby cakes" it will only check the confidence of the word "baby".  In this case it would probably be fine, or you could try writing it as one word "babycakes".

In case you hadn't noticed, the new prefix feature has been included in this version:
