Hi,

I wonder if any one has any suggestions.

I want to control the sound on my receiver via VC & EG and preferably by using "Set Volume x". Rather than in steps.

it just depends on your receiver, your control hardware (i.e. rs323 or infrared blaster etc) and if EG has a plugin that will work with it.  If you can figure that part out, sending volume x commands to eventGhost is no problem.

I will be controlling using a ir Blaster (USB-UIRT).
Unfortunately it does not have RS-232

I understand how to send commands using single steps, but that would require a lot of talking. (Up Up Up - etc)

I think I can see how I can send one command that would send a series of repeating commands ie 5 steps at a time.
Is this what you would recommend - or would you suggest something else?

If you are using an ir blaster then you are probably limited to the commands that are on your remote control.  This means that probably you can't send a command like set volume 20, but are forced to use volume up and volume down.  Similarly, you probably don't have access to a power on or power off command, but are forced to use power toggle.  I don't even know what you receiver you have so I can't tell you much more than this.

If you need help with either VC or EG let me know.  You probably want to have a voice command like "volume up <1-10>".  The repeating can me accomplished in either VC or EG but it is easier to do in VC.

I would prefer to use VC - I do find it easier to work with.

So... I would say "Volume up 5" and this would have the same effect as pressing Volume up on my remote 5 times.

Try this.  There could be a problem if your require more of a delay between events, but this is the simplest way.

That example helped me a lot. Just to let you know you forgot to change the repeat on Volume down from 1 -> {1}
But it is early at your end.

Yes - I think the delay is a problem - I can see on EG that it is effectively pressing the required number of keys - but the reality is that the actual volume change is not very accurate.

Any further suggestions?

sure, use this instead.  It generates a loop of {1} repeats.  The delay is set to 300 millisec but you can adjust to your liking.

another possible solution is to use the original VC command that I sent, but to add a "wait some time" action to the eventghost macro.  If that works it might be better, because it free's VC up immediately.

That helped also - tried both ways. VC & EG thank you for the tips.
I appear to get 2 changed in volume for each VC key press regardless of delay - not really a problem, I just have to remember.
Actually I had better change the payload range 1,5
