I believe everything is working, I just need to get more familiar with the commands.  I want to make sure the problem is not me (which is probably is) before I bother you anymore.  Thanks for the help and excellent program.

I keep getting "play song error dummy" when i try to play a song. I have the XML file correctly created, but still i can't play songs or artist. And if i say "scroll up/down" or "move right 2" i'm pushed back to the home screed (if i say only "move right" it works)
Don't know why but the album xml is still empty.

Welcome Dads,

we need some information of your setup.

Which Version of VC do you use? e.g. 0.860 and so on.
Which program you want to control with VC?
First step is, restart your PC
2. start the program you want to use as administrator (right klick on the program-icon)
3. start VC
4. genrate xml new, and testet

write here if it has solved the problem or not

Greetings Kalle

VC 0.851 controlling XBMC.
Started XBMC as admin and recreated the xml. Now the "play song/artist" command works, but i still have the album xml empty and the scroll command bring me back to xbmc home. (that's quite impressive the accuracy of play song, considering i'm italian)

if you run GenXML and click the XBMC buttons one at a time, you should get numbers showing up to show how many of each type (artist album etc) are found, replacing the word "ready..."

Do you get a zero next to albums?  If that is the case, but you are getting numbers > 0 for the other types (artist, song etc) then you most likely have a problem with your XBMC library or song data.  What version of xbmc are you using (do not say "latest"  :bonk) and have you scanned all your songs into the xbmc library correctly?

The scroll commands only use repeated keyboard emulation of the arrow keys (up down left right) so if you are going back to the home screen it is probably something to do with your skin setup or remapped keys in xbmc.  Try going to a folder in windows with a lot of pictures in thumbnail mode and test the scroll commands there.

If you have edited your command tree and you think you could have "broken" something, you can post it and I'll take a look.
