Wolfram|Alpha
« on: October 15, 2011, 04:14:41 AM »
Maybe not anytime soon but after playing with Wolfram|Alpha for a bit ( http://www.wolframalpha.com ) I started thinking it might be a cool integration, with TTS responses. Wolfram seems to almost have an answer for everything.

I looked at this quite a while ago.  I would like to do something with it, however it would require a lot of work to distill the answers down into something concise enough for TTS.  I've also considered trying to capture the intro paragraph from Wikipedia for TTS.  Of course you can go ahead and do this with VC already by using the scrape and results.regex commands.

For an example see this recent thread: http://voxcommando.com/forum/index.php?topic=610.msg4410#msg4410

HA.  I finally added TTS to my chrome dictionary.  It kept suggesting that I meant TITS. :o  Which is a pretty good guess, I guess.

Someone suggested that siri available on the new iPhone 4s is also scraping wolfram|Alpha
I am going to take a closer look at that thread and see if I can get it working somehow.

I have posted a solution to using Wolfram Alpha with VC. It's simple and free. Enjoy!
