General Discussion / Controlling my wiflights (Milight) with VC
« on: August 16, 2014, 06:37:45 PM »
Good day guys, sorry for the delay in reply. I was away for work but back home now.
Please find the payloads attached and let me know if you have any other problems. Also Graves how are you gettig on with your LED lights?

The attached xml files are located under the payloads folder in my VC install. Not sure if locations makes a difference (dont think so as youll specify where they are but just in case )

Here we are... some xml files for you to test. Just a few notes

The XBMC one is set up for the White LED lights (not RGB) so the UDP string might look somewhat different and it is triggered my the play feature in xbmc (dim) and the stop will set it to 100% again. Only media that is added to library though. Not files you just open

The UDP wifilights xml is for my room and two entries here (ON\OFF) have an action trigger (event trigger) linked to them. This is coming from my Vera lite unit and detecting motion from my motion sensor sends an event to VC and VC in turn turns lights on when it sees motion or in 20 minuts with no motion will switch them off again

The Fancy stuff was James being his usual clever self. He wipped these together in 2 seconds and I just sat doing  :bonk
Not sure if this will work for you with just the xml as James also set some items in phase only and phase, value xml sets

Let me know if these work for you

Hi Graves, I sent you a PM and I will be more than happy to share my xml with you. I never got these strips but id image they would work in a similar manner to the lights.

I will upload my xml as soon as I can for you

Integration Ideas / Re: Alarm Design
« on: May 21, 2014, 02:47:21 AM »
:clap great work on that PIR build Kalle! Really cool to see things like that!

As for
Quote
I'd like to challenge any intruder and convince them leaving the premises is the best option!
I have had this same idea\question and although I havent set this up before my thought pattern might spark something with you.

Seeing as VC is windows based already I was looking in using a VOIP system like 3CX (was free for personal use last time i checked) and this pared with email or txt notification from the alarm system about an intruder would switch audio gear on and then I would respond to the txt\email notification by phoning an extension on my VOIP system at home that auto answers and outputs audio to the AV gear that was switched on.

Again just some ideas that I was playing with but nothing 100% but I hope this helps in some way

Hi all VC users. I have been working alongside James and guys in NZ that do Wireless LED lights. They approached me to make a movie and saw this as a good forum to plug VoxCommando as much as I could and hopefully get some more exposure out there for us :)

Not a Mr Wulf movie at all but Im proud non the less. Thank you one and all that helped me (you know who you are)

Amulet Remote / Re: Amulet update - cheaper worldwide shipping
« on: May 10, 2014, 11:34:25 AM »
This is great news Eddy! Thank you for all your efforts and to those users not yet the proud owner of an Amulter remote let this be said....

Now is the time to BUY BUY BUY! I love my remote and is yet to give me a single issue.

PS - bought the OEM version and it is 100% for VC so there is even more saving. I love xmas in May  :biglaugh

hi and welcome to the madness we like to call home automation  :bonk I had exactly this same question in mind a few months ago considering the same items as you.

In the end I went with spending a bit more money and getting the USB UIRT. I agree it is a bit of money but the video on youtube of James learning codes using this device just via VC in such a fun way made the decision for me in the end. I just decided for my use and my lack of real coding knowledge this was after all the best spend of money if you compare it to a device like Global Cache itach devices and 4 times the price all be it more flexable. (being from Aus you might have heard of the Uremote guys. They use these devices along with their own app that mimics irule for this device) .

This being said Paul has used his MCE USB device to great effect and I was tempted but at least with the USB UIRT you know the plugin is there for you in VC and it will be one less thing you will have to "figure out" in your journey.

In short I guess it comes down to your skill and if you would like to "code" both VC and eventghost or if you would just like to plug in, install drivers, install\configure plugin in VC and be off to new posibilities. The latter was me and the USB UIRT really surprised me. To me it really feels like a quality product although it might be assambled in someones garage for all I know and I am looking at buying a second at some stage

Sorry for the long post but hopefully you will gain something from it at least.

Good luck ahead and keep us all posted on your progress especially as between AUS and NZ we seem to be low on numbers :) Will be great to see more projects from this side of the world as well

Also re you VC and Yatse question. They are worlds apart but go and read the folling google doc relating to a single central databse for XBMC and as such your Yatse and VC will at least always use the same database so items will at least line up with eachother. Especially helpful once you have more than one XBMC running.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1epmODbgHM1uFVsvH08rmntpxTsXA-ae0FfI5fto3Fa4/edit?usp=sharing

You could also search this forum for multi room xbmc and find my post with some other links and input from forum mebers

Hi bcboncs and welcome to VC. I had a quick read on your posts and interesting you should mention you still like to use a remote. James recently did a podcast where he also mentioned still liking the use of a remote for browsing content and so on. I dont know much about the Rii remote you are talking about but a good idea\comprimise for you might be the use of an AMULET remote. I have not yet used mine as a remote for pressing keys but purely as a great mic for VC. Even if you get it just for that purpose it is worth every cent. But do some reading here on the forum (search amulet) and maybe on their website as well to see if it might perform the "normal" remote funtions you might require.

The amulet guys are just as friendly and helpful as the VC members so I hope you get your answers and good luck with your VC journey that lies ahead

General Discussion / Re: I just wanted to say...

Welcome to the forum CarsonY101  and PLUS 1 for your comment. The forum members are great here and always very helpful! Hope to see some of your home automation and VC setup at some stage as a youtube clip but until then please do post any unique or clever ways you are using VC. I alsways (sure im not alone) like to see how other members take VC to the next level. Also I am sure you would have come across it before but just incase you have only watched James videos - Paul (mrwulf) has great movies on youtube along with Kalle if you are looking for some more ways to use VC with other hardware. Also James shared a link for a recent podcast re VC and it was great to hear about the evolution of VC if you are ever keen :)

General Discussion / XBMC Discrete pause
« on: May 10, 2014, 08:12:52 AM »
Hi everyone. I wasnt sure if making a new post or reviving an older one was the best course with this question. Please do let me know what is preffered on the forum.

I am referring to another topic re XBMC and pausing from August 2013. As some of you might know I am currently busy getting some WiFi led lights set up with my VC and vera home automation system (still cant thank James enough for his help  ;D )

My current situation is that I have configured VC to my xbmc with notifications enabled. I am using an Android device with Yatse for control from there (I'm sure that even with a pure VC setup results might be the same)

What I am trying to achieve is when I start a movie the lights should dim (This works well) and when i stop the lights should brighten agai (also working well) The problem comes with the Pause and "unpause" of the movie. This seems to be the exact same code. Is there a way around this that someone might have figured out or something I could perhaps try?

Thank you all once again!

PS - will hopefully be able to figure out setting up eventghost with my phone so that if I receive a call movies\music will pause as well :)
