Currently I have a sonos system and stream it. I use VC to control my sonos. What I would like is to say "Latest CBC news" and VC fetches the mp3 and then plays it on my sonos.
I was able to have VC scrape the Reuters News website and TTS the headlines to my sonos. Actually I found the code in the forum and updated it. Works well, but I would like the CBC version.

I'm posting this request here as it doesn't seem to fit anywhere else.
I'm new to VC and am slowing building my capabilities. For my next activity, I'm at a loss of where to start. It seems simple. I want to play the latest new podcast from CBC. The URL is:
http://podcast.cbc.ca/mp3/hourlynews.mp3

Hi,
I tried what you suggested and the problem still exists. I tried sending two Sonos TTS in the same command and the first time it played the message once and the second time twice. As well it seems that if a player is not used for 30 minutes, that is when the problem exists. I tried at 5, 10 and 15 minutes and there was no problem. So after about 30 minutes of inactivity, maybe Sonos executes a sleep mode.

I'm still testing with this issue. Most of my system (vc and sonos) is connected via ethernet, two zones are connected via wifi. The issue appears in all cases. What I've found so far is after a period of inactivity, when I try to use the sonos TTS command, vc recognizes it properly but sonos doesn't broadcast the payload. Second time with same command and all works OK. Any subsequent sonos TTS commands work as long as there's not a long time span between commands.
I'll try a bit more, and if I can't figure it out I will send you a log file.

Hi Jim,
Thank you for your quick response. My problem was the group name in my vc command was not the same as my sonos rooms (zones). Live and learn. I did't want to use partymode as it would include my outdoor speakers and I was creating an indoor paging system using vc and sonos. All works now. Next project is creating a timer to remind me to do something in x minutes or at a specific time (similar to your video). I'm having a great time working with vc. I look forward to your next enhancements. All the best.

Hi,
I've tried the Sonos.CreateGroup command and it doesn't seem to do anything. Via my Sonos app I do not see that the group has been created and when I play music to the group it only plays to the last player selected. I'm using Voxcommando 2.2.1.6. Thanks.

Hi,
I'm using the Sonos plugin and version 2.2.1.6 of Voxcommando. My Sonos software is up to date. For the most part everything is working fine, I'm just getting use to the commands. One issue that I can't resolve is with the Sonos.TTS.Speak command is that sometimes (can't determine when it occurs exactly) I need to send the command twice to have the payload broadcasted on my speakers via Sonos. I've used the "What time is it?" command that came with the configuration as well as many I've built myself.
Any ideas as to why this is occurring?
