this was the first failure of playback today. just earlier than that today there seemed to be a topology changed event (even though the topology of the groups etc had not changed so maybe this is the cause of the object not set to an instance of an object?

Hi, I have been using the Beta and it is so very very close to perfection.

i have a regular issue with what appears to be a race condition with saving the TTS file and Playing it back. it starts happening once per day the error when playing back the file is Object Reference not set to an instance of an object. restarting voxcommando fixes this for about another day or sometimes less only 12 hours.

once it starts happening all of the TTS announcements fail. I can work around it by looking for the error in the log file and automatically restarting vox commando but one of my TTS announcements will never be heard so its not reliable.

no, the TTS plugin is using the standard MS Hazel voice, and i am using a cereproc voice for the Sonos TTS

this so nearly works really well except sometimes now vixcommando gets into a state where it wont play any TTS as it states

restarting VoxCommando fixes it, but i dont know why it gets into that state? and as its running on a headless server all my voice notifications just stop

I am also getting a hard application error where voxcommando crashes but that's far less frequent. i'll catch the details of that next time bu the error above is happening nearly every day

I have been getting the same experience with this when the sonos goes into its low power state, i have gotten around it by creating a wav file from a text string of "," this just creates a small TTS Wav file of no audio, this plays first then i push my actual TTS text string and this works.

this means i get a reliable method of notifications without ever having duplication

Sonos / Wishlist for missing commands

Hi,

i've just started using your plugin and i am currently integrating it with Samsung SmartThings for TTS notifications which is working extremely well and is a well executed plugin.

I do have a wishlist for some commands specifically commands for receiving the status of the player/group

so the first is GetGroupVolume currently only the selected players volume is reported

Second is GetStatus i.e. playing/stopped state

third and most important is getGroupStatus to return if the currently selected player is in a group already. this would allow me to put logic around my automations.

I do have an idea of how to get this info back from the sonos devices, is the source for this plugin on Github or another public versioning repository so i can contribute? if not would these possible be working thier way onto the roadmap for the plugin?

my apologies as i am pretty new here and i couldn't figure out exactly where to post... anyway thanks for the feedback after jumping through a few hoops i have got MS Speech platform working with some of the Cereproc SAPI voices i had bought.

i just wasnt sure where to start from the error messages i was receiving where the fault was.

its working well and i have it integrated with Samsung SmartThings. please feel free to delete or move this thread

I have .net 3.5.1 & 4.5.2 installed, the machine is a VM running Windows 2012 R2 hosted on Vsphere 5.5 host. the VM has the HDAudio sound device installed, however i want to use this headless with no local sound. but rather use this to trigger TTS over my sonos devices.

VoxCommando Basics and Core Features / High DPC latency with NDIS.sys when using VoxCommando

Hi,

I have been using VoxCommando for some time without issues with the program per se, however after the time of install and configuration i have also been having issues within media center with stutters in video and also lots of Weak signal errors within media center. I use DVBLink with mediacenter to manager the tuner pool and watching of Live TV.

I have spent a long time troubleshooting the issue and have come to learn the issue was being caused by extrememly hiogh DPC latency. I monitored this using LatencyMon available from http://www.resplendence.com/latencymon

it then took me some time to realize after updating all drivers that it wasn't in fact driver related. I stumbled accross the solution when closing VoxCommando, instantly the DPC latency dropped down to normal levels (averaging 200) and all my issues within mediacenter stopped. but as soon as loading back up VoxCommando my DPC latency counters increased to between 6000 & 12000 and the issues started to occur again.

I have performed further troubleshooting steps including replacing the microphone source from onboard sound to USB Mic with no improvement in DPC latency. and even if Voxcommando is not listening, huge latency is introduced with ndis.sys.

so until something can be sorted i am going to have to refrain from using Voxcommando unless i set up a dedicated PC for the role, which is overkill.

as other people must be using Media Center, has anyone else experienced the same? or know i can resolve the issue?

Integration Ideas / Samsung Smart TV Integration into VoxCommando

My ideal scenario here would be to use VoxCommando's API to recive the output form an app on the Samsung Smart TV.

e.g.
use the Samsung voice feature and create a smart TV app that sends the output of the voice command after a given keyword to VoxCommand via the API, this i imagine would be contrary to how most people would envisage using VoxCommando and would want VoxCommando to do the conversion from from voice. however samsungs system works very well IMHO and the little puck remote (Which i would continue to like using on my TV's) is already set up to mute the TV etc.. when activated.

I have taken a look at how hard it would be to program in Eclipse, as i am a Visual Studio guy, and i must admit i am a bit lost. however my thinking was that VoxWav may have been programmed with Eclipse? and if so porting to the Samsung TV range with Voice activation wouldn't be that difficult? again i am not sure but i do live in hope
