Hi Dave and James, thanks for the quick response guys, appreciated, Dave I will take a look at the ping info, James I just checked and eventghost does it so just linked it that way for now (well its showing my watch connecting but not mobile), was just wondering if vox did it natively because would prefer to remove my use of eventghost at some point.

I have got it done with tasker so when my smart watch / Bluetooth watch connects to my android left in the room to unlock it makes my broadlink send the signal to unlock the door, just wanted to replicate the same thing with my vox setup.

I think the Bluetooth eventghost option is probably better than pinging though since it's more a proximity trigger for things, where as triggering based on ping / wifi connection wouldn't disconnect over the short range I need since wifi stretches pretty far.

Great work with vox new SKIN though James, looks awesome.  8)

Hi Everyone,,

Just a quick question, is it possible and if so how for vox to show when a Bluetooth device has connected to the computer? I want to set up a few things like my door lock to the house to unlock when I get within the 10 meter Bluetooth rang after pulling into the drive.

So the Bluetooth on my smart watch or mobile would connect to the computer an event would be shown in vox and it triggers my door unlock remote code sending.

It would also serve as a great way to power save by turning off my TV when I go outside or out of the 10 meter range of the Bluetooth, then when I return back to the front room reactivate the TV.

So any help you guys can give so I can get vox listing connected and disconnected Bluetooth devices is greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

I use both methods for controlling Tellstick, I started out with eventghost so I started using that but then learned about the code here for controlling the Tellstick, both are good, just the eventghost option allows me more command options, the other option requires me to use the name I added in the Telldus Center software for things.

I have both in play for when eventghost fails to load on a reboot or goes a bit funny.  8)

Here is  demo of some integration I have been working on to control an electronic door lock with vox, it forms part of my custom built security system. I wanted the ability to lock all the doors in the house when I leave so if someone did break in they wouldn't just be able to roam from room to room.

It also serves as a good way to control which rooms handy men get access too when they come out to fix things like the washing machine, usually I would have to stay in and although I have CCTV if I wanted to nip out the house they would still have access to doors downstairs.

They might even finish repairing the machine while I am out and leave, so being able to lock the kitchen door with an electric lock means controlling the access to that and the extension.

Now I am not using an off the shelf electric door lock like many WiFi and Bluetooth connected ones you may have seen, they have become hack targets and the security for them is usually pretty weak, plus I am not using my electric locks on the main front house door, only doors inside.

If you live in the UK or EU you can copy what I have done by getting a Home Easy door lock which is remote controlled by RF frequency, you will need a tellstick and eventghost.

The video above is the voice control demo, I have got the doorlock unlocking using Bluetooth and NFC, I have NFC tags on the door and frame and if I touch my phone to it the door unlocks.

If I enter Bluetooth range the door unlocks, the great thing about this door lock is you can pick one up with the remote control unit for £20 on eBay, an off the shelf electric door lock like the August costs £220!

So using vox and some Home Easy Door Locks you could voice control every door in your house for half the price of an off the shelf smart door lock.

I hope this has given you guys some integration ideas for smart door locks you voice control with vox.

Hi James, thanks for that, how do I get the 'regular expression helper' window to stop loading with each video page load?

It's a shame about the video player being one element, is there any way to get Robo B to download the video from the url to a location like recently added movies in kodi so that I could then just use kodi to play the door events, pause and rewind them?

Cheers James, appreciate the help mate, just sent you login details.  8)

Hi Guys,

I need a little help, Ring the same company who created Doorbot has finally made available a web interface for viewing the stored videos taken by the Ring Video Doorbell, so we can login and check the videos uploaded to it.

Now I have managed to get vox to show me events like missed visitors, taken door calls and motion alerts, but I need help getting it to play the video player that is embedded on the page to see the selected events.

A video player appears on the screen next to the latest events and I have clicked CTRL while hovering over the play button to try and find the DIV code or Tag to get it to play but I am unable to.

The player appears when you hover over it and goes when not on it, but when you hover over it the play button appears.

When I CTRL I get the TAG: VIDEO 0, when I try and get Robo B to click after the tag it doesn't play, I have tried tag VIDEO,1,2,3,4 etc but I can't get the play button, so any help you can give is appreciated.

Cheers.

Hi Guys, here is an idea some of you may want to run with which I have implemented into my usage of vox. One problem I had now I control my TV with vox and a smart watch is knowing what the listening state of vox is when the TV is off.

I could issue commands and not know whether they have been heard until the monitor or TV is turned on, so what I have done is got a RGB LED strip and linked it up to vox using a Broadlink RM Pro.

When vox is in listening mode the LEDs around the TV and window in the room go green, when it is in standby mode the LEDs go blue, when vox is off the LEDs are red.

Theres many different ways to use LEDs and some are covered on the forum by Kalle, so which way you set it up doesn't matter, just link the vox event for the state to a colour on your RGB LED strip and then it will show which state your vox is in.

I have LEDs in different rooms and they are part of my security system also so when an intrusion is detected the LEDs turn on and go red, so the windows of the house go red. I just let my neighbour no that if they see red lights in the window to check in with me because it could mean a break in or emergency with the family.

One of the family is a diabetic so when an episode happens there's usually little time to act when they have a hypo, so I will be integrating this with a Skype call to my number and e-mail notification.

just trying to figure how this question is related to open-air mic forum  :bonk :bonk :bonk !!!

@Haddood That creative thinking process would be better spent on a solution to the question if it isn't immediately obvious how multiple TTS output is related to open air mics.

Unless you want to guess whether vox has heard you through an open air mic system you will need auditory feedback from the system. Imagine you have mics in all rooms, you have been sat in front of your comp with vox running and told it to stop listening, you've gone to the kitchen and forgot it isn't in listening mode.

You are issuing your commands and reminders like remember to buy milk, lights on, microwave start and nothing is happening, you then have to go back to your room with vox running because you have no auditory feedback.

Now here's a situation from Today which I will be using to build a group for calling emergency services with Skype for fire, ambulance and police emergencies.

Today I was working on some home automation in the front room when I noticed flames over the fence in my neighbors garden, I thought she may be burning something and looked to make sure because it looked close to her fence.

It turns out her fence was on fire, now I opened the patio doors and yelled her because her windows always open, to get her attention, she never replied so I ran around.

If I had the group set up already for calling emergency services with Skype, then I could of said CALL FIRE SERVICE FOR 76 at which point Skype would of been dialled on the comp.

Since Skype syncs on multiple devices like my mobile I could of then taken the call after someone answered and let them know about the fire or the computer could of stated the emergency and hung up.

Since the TTS output was coming through the TV that is no use to me while I am running around to knock on my neighbors door, that is where multiple simultaneous TTS output would serve well, since my watch I wear all the time now for voice control would of let me know the emergency services were dialled or when connected.

The Bluetooth mic/speaker in the garden on the table would also receive the TTS output and kept me in the loop as to whether my call had been made or answered.

As soon as I had ran around my neighbors and made sure she knew and a fire engine was called, I ran straight back to mine, grabbed my garden hose, turned it on and jumped the fence to help her son fight the flames, below is her son fighting the flames before I got there and before the trees all went up and the rest of the fence.

If I only have one TTS in operation it is a huge limitation for an open air mic system. Now since Todays events have brought up the issue of home safety and sensors, I will be integrating a smoke alert / fire alert system, I will need TTS output for that, but I will need TTS again for multiple rooms.

So the bedroom wireless mics and speakers get the audio output of any issues and the same for my home alarm system where I want to issue audio output from TTS, I need it to go through the front room, passage, kitchen, back room speakers etc.

So quit :bonk yourself with that and get the thinking cap on to crack this multiple TTS output.  8) For anyone who wondered, I am okay although I did have a few hot leaves and branch ambers drop on me while trying to put out the flames  since I was stood directly under the burning tree in a vest with the hose.

Believe me if I find the parts to turn on a tap by radio control I will be setting up an outside fire suppression system to put the sheds out if they ever catch fire from a similar situation, they were almost gonners, look at the ashe on the umbrella above.

The sheds are next to the fence so if the fire had reached my garden it would of took them out and then the house.

Hi marcusvdt, I was looking at android smart watch phones myself, the one that caught my attention was the iMacWear M7 smart watch which runs android 4.4 also, so you can run full normal android apps on it, so vox wav should be fine.

I've chosen to wait though for a smart watch phone with at least android 5.0 since you can't upgrade the version of android on them. The M7 is also IP67 waterproof which I think is important with any smart watch you spend a bit on since you will be using it a lot in all weather conditions, for me waterproof or resistant is a must in rainy England or the accidental splash when washing dishes or something.

You can check the watch out on eBay but someone has done a video around 20 minutes on YouTube showing you his and givinga really in depth review.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/iMacwear-SPARTA-M7-Smart-Watch-Phone-3G-IP67-Waterproof-Rating-Android-4-4-/181786789428

For in home voice automation though you don't need a watch phone, a Bluetooth watch will work just fine, I have tested two out for under $20 and they both work great for voice control.

You can see the U8 smart watch or sometimes called the Uwatch below, you can pick one up for $20, simply pair it to your computer and it will be discovered as a smart watch and you can use the Mic to input audio into vox.

Integration Ideas / Re: Broadlink pro with RF
« on: July 13, 2015, 04:50:38 PM »
That is the same link as posted above:

http://voxcommando.com/forum/index.php?topic=2090.msg19552#msg19552

Hi James, that original post and link always contained the answer to allowing vox to work with Broadlink, someone just needed to test out what was there.  8)

It is entirely possible to control the Broadlink RM Pro and Broadlink RM Home with Vox, after days and sleepless nights trying to work it out I finally got my head around how to do it, it turns out @Vahe post « Reply #8 on: July 08, 2015, 01:56:16 PM » had the answer all along and if anyone had ran with it,  it would of worked fine as a means of controlling the Broadlink with Vox.

So now cheap RF and Infrared control are possible using the Broadlink, I will be doing some more testing with it but going to need you guys input shortly since I want to somehow integrate it with the IR remote learn code function you and Kalle show on a video to just use voice commands to set the learn code mode.

Above is a demo video of me using vox to control the Broadlink, you'll have to excuse the delay between commands and them being actioned, I was having Broadband issues and my net kept hanging and disconecting.

When the internet is working properly the commands are pretty much instant from vox to the Broadlink, I've got some more testing to do but will keep you all updated.

UPDATE: The video demo above was using the Broadlink RM Home and the Broadband connection was very sluggish that day, the video below is of the Broadlink RM Pro and was done on a day the Broadband was more normal and you can see vox controlling it through the use of a Bluetooth smart watch.

Hi Guys, is there a way to set multiple TTS output devices, so I have two smart watches now and a Bluetooth speaker with mic in the kitchen, I would like to be able to set the TTS output from vox to go through all of them so I can hear on all devices.

Otherwise if I say TALK THROUGH THE WATCH and take speech output away from the TV, anyone else left in the room can't hear vox, so need to work out how to get the TTS output coming through multiple devices simultaneously.

I have tried all devices separated by commas in the payload list as the value but that's not worked for sending audio through all of that payload with an activation phrase. So any suggestions I can test appreciated.

Cheers.

Hi Foggy, you do not need any of the apps to use the U8 as a Bluetooth mic from your comp because it comes with Bluetooth and pairing built in, the apps mentioned in the instructions are just in case you want to use any of the other features like sleep monitor and the fitness stuff.

You can find the apps on play by putting in their name to play search, I've not installed it myself as I am only using my watch to link to the computers for voice control. Go to Bluetooth settings on your computer and scan and it will find your smart watch or go to the Bluetooth section of your U8 and scan for your computer when in discoverable mode and pair them both.

Drop us an update and let us know how you get on, be sure to set the watch as recording device or mic input in vox to use it.  8)

If my post came through more than once it is because my internet connection has been hanging all day and said it wasn't sent, had to reboot the comp and was just about to post a reply but see it is already here.

Hi @nime5ter and James, just a quick heads up, the scrape action is working for me, so no more annoying download prompts, thanks for the help.
