XBMC Double Feature Setup
« on: February 13, 2012, 12:36:39 AM »
Hello,

I'm new to the forum and have been tinkering with your awesome program for a few weeks.

I came across your youtube video on queueing up a double feature using vox.  Do you have a tutorial on how you set that up or do you have the scripts for it available.

I'm already familiar with the cinema experience setup, just want to know what you did to to queue up the double feature.

Hi rablack97, and welcome to VoxCommando :)

That is a good question.  I have not tried to use Cinema Experience with VoxCommando for a while and a lot of things have changed since the last time I used it.

Give me a couple of days to figure this out.  I am having trouble getting CE to work at all on XBMC Eden.  Once I figure that out I can look at how to do it with VoxCommando.

It's quite possible that Giftie changed / removed some functionality.

Thank you so much for your response.

I'll make it easy for for, I'm still in Dharma 10.1, and have no desire to go to Eden.  I have my setup running fairly smooth, and your program works well with it.

If you can find the code you used for your youtube posting that would be great.  Too many bugs in Eden in my honest opinion, i'll wait till that comes out of Beta.

Sollddddddddddd.....Just donated to the cause....Great job on this software.

One more thing as I am just lazy, do you have the TTS event code as well.

I just imported your xml, and it worked flawlessly on the first try.  I just need the TTS piece similar to your your youtube, to introduce the movies.

Only if you have it handy :)

no problem  ;D

you may have to adjust your settings in CE for this to work.

in CE settings, under "miscellaneous" make sure to select "enable output to voxcommando"

The speech isn't working.

The double feature script runs fine, but not introduction of the the movie.

I changed the misc setting as stated, am i missing anything else.

not that I know of.  If the CE script is configured correctly it should result in a history windows that looks similar to the attached image.

Are you sure you clicked "OK" after changing the CE settings?  It sounds stupid but I often forget to do this... :bonk

ohhhh.  I think I gave you a group with only the event for a single movie.  Sorry.  Try this.  Delete the old event command that I sent you.

in what way is it "not smooth"? (feel free to post a youtube video if that's the easier way to explain it)

Ok first question, what voice are you using for the TTS?

When the CE script runs it goes into a intro video of curtains opening right before the Movie trivia starts.

It seems like the curtain video is trying to load at the same time the vox commando event is running, so the speech sound crappy or it gets cutoff to where you only catch the second half of the verbiage.

I removed the curtain intro and it ran better, i was able to have it speak the entire phrase instead of only the 2nd half.

I think it is Julie from Neospeech.

http://www.neospeech.com/

If your XBMC video takes exclusive control of the sound during video playback you are going to have a problem.  If you send TTS to a different sound card, or are using only analog output you won't have that problem.  On my setup I have no conflict with regular stereo videos, but my 5.1 streams DTS direct to my receiver so TTS no longer works.  The solution for me is to send TTS via analog to my TV speakers, and let XBMC send audio to my surround receiver.  Of course if I turn my TV off it doesn't work, so it's no ideal for listening to music.  It is not a perfect world to be sure!

Ok gotcha, yeah everything is fed hdmi to my receiver.

I have a projector setup so i dont have any alternate speakers to send TTS too. No worries I'll just work with what i have and play around.

Thanks again.....Looking forward to seeing some stuff for JRiver.....will have to donate again you figure that out.

You could always try putting a pause command into the event triggered TTS command to buy it some time.  I don't know if it will work or not.

The recent version of JRiver has a nice looking interface for external control, so making a plugin for it should not be too difficult, in relative terms.  I will try to release something relatively soon with only partial functionality so you can start testing.  Hopefully in the next couple of weeks.

Good idea on the pause command...I will try that out....

I am still trying to grasp the macro coding in the command builder.  I need a command builder for dummies class.  I've blazed through the WIKI but i've seen your advanced events and coding and would like a better understanding of how it all ties together.

Looking forward the helping test out the JRiver plug-in....

Ha, if you get that nailed down......I'd like to do something for my arcade system, its running Hyperspin and i already have a skype mic on it.  The databases for the games are all XML, it would be cool to scroll through games or call a game directly through vox.  Just more ideas for ya...

I think the guys at hyperspin are coming out with a more windows 7 friendly version, so you might even be able to work a deal with them with vox integration.
