Vera Home Automation Controller / Triggering VC command with a vera scene
« on: January 19, 2015, 12:29:21 PM »
Hi All,

Previously I had a motion sensor triggered 'coming home' vc command that did the following; (with an 'away' variable taking care of the logic)

-turn on tv
-turn on hue lights
-tts greeting/time/you have x new emails
-launch xbmc party mode

I've moved the tv and lights actions to the vera so I now have a motion sensor triggered vera 'coming home' scene. I simplified the vc command so once the vera scene is launched, the vc command does the following;

-tts greeting/time/you have x new emails
-launch xbmc party mode

This works fine, but at random times the vc command is triggered when the vera scene has not been launched.
I used vera1.scene1.active as the vc trigger. I'm just a bit unclear as to how vc vera polling works and how you should trigger a command using a vera scene.

Any advise welcome, thanks..

Integration Ideas / Roomba integration
« on: November 24, 2014, 11:38:11 AM »
Hi, the robots thread was quite old I thought i'd better start a new one..

So, a while back I ordered one of these http://www.thinkingcleaner.com/
Many months later, its finally on its way..

I'm probably my own on this one I understand, but if anyone could even have a quick look at the api info below just to give me a sense of how much or how little would be involved in getting vc to talk to it (even in a very basic way i.e. clean, stop etc.) i'd much appreciate it..

By the way, are there any other roomba owners here?

Thanks

Vera Home Automation Controller / Sharing 'workload' between vera and vc
« on: November 13, 2014, 12:38:27 PM »
Just a general query..

With the vera now up and running, it occurred to me that there's various ways of splitting the workload between vc and vera. For example, my current 'coming home' scene:
- motion sensor tripped
- vc sees motion sensor event, turns on tv, turns on hue lights, issues tts greeting, plays random music

With the vera in place, this could of course be:
- motion sensor tripped
- vera scene turns on tv, lights (vera hue app)
- vc sees vera scene event, issues greeting, plays random music

The advantage of the 2nd obviously being that the pc does not need to be running for most of the scene to be launched. Going this way would also give me remote control of the usbuirt.

I'm sure there's no right or wrong way but i'm curious as to peoples approach and reasons for doing so...

Vera Home Automation Controller / Veralite & aeon multisensor
« on: October 29, 2014, 08:40:16 AM »
Hi All,

I was lucky enough to get a good deal on some zwave gear (vera lite, 2 x dimmable wall sockets, thermostat/reciever and an aeon multisensor). I've been experimenting with the vc plugin and it all seems very intuitive so far, i had a desklamp toggle command up and running within a few minutes.

I'm looking now at incorporating the sensor, most likely to launch a scene on entering a room. I've watched the 'getting started with vera' video, it all makes perfect sense but i'm having one issue.   When i 'trigger' the sensor i.e. wave my hand over it, the event is not appearing in the vc history window.
Generate events is ticked in the plugin and other events do appear e.g. when i toggle the light on/off. The sensor is in the vc device xml and vc can get the temperature/humidity from it so all looks ok from that point of view, it seems to be specific to the motion detection part. Also I was able to get the motion sensor to turn on the light on the zwave wall socket via the vera backend so i dont believe there is anything wrong with the sensor.

Hopefully i'm missing something simple, any help most welcome.

Integration Ideas / Home security
« on: July 09, 2014, 06:02:07 PM »
Hello all,

I'm looking to set up a basic home security system based around a Foscam ip cam/cams and webcamxp. So camera detects motion, triggers some events, sends SMS, records video to the cloud etc.. I'm Hoping to be able to use vc to arm and disarm, tts to issue alerts and hue plugin for flashing lights. I've yet to look at webcamxp in any detail, I'm just wondering if anyone here has done anything similar or has any idea how well vc and webcamxp will work together if at all..

Many thanks

XBMC (Old board see 'KODI' above) / Really easy one
« on: June 13, 2014, 04:36:51 PM »
I've tried, really I have but I can't seem to see the wood for the trees.. All I want to do is create an action that plays a specific song. All the play song commands I've looked at involve variables and payloads, I can't seem to strip it back without messing up the syntax.

MediaMonkey / Media monkey vs XBMc
« on: May 02, 2014, 08:37:51 AM »
Hi,

A lot of vc users seem to be mm users also. Just curious as to what advantages it offers over music in XBMC. I do like being able to access everything from one application.

Amulet Remote / Scrolling issue
« on: May 02, 2014, 08:05:19 AM »
Hi,

I've posed on the Amulet support forum but im curious if any other amulet users here have noticed the same thing. Holding down a directional key only scrolls through a list by 3 spaces then stops. FYI - Ive mapped all keys on the remote to xbmc functions via eventghost.

General Discussion / TV on/off
« on: April 02, 2014, 12:10:32 PM »
Hi James & Co,

I'd really like to get an IR blaster turning my tv on /off and tie this into some 'welcome home' and 'going to bed' type scenes. Based on your own solution, I've looked into the Hali controller but cant seem to find much info on it. It possibly isn't suitable for those of us in Europe either.
What other options are out there that work well with vc?

Thanks

Integration Ideas / Any Philips Hue users here?
« on: March 06, 2014, 09:00:13 AM »
Hi all,

I realise no official plugin for hue is being developed (understandably so being a niche and expensive product) but im just wondering if anyone here is a hue user and has found a way to get vox commando talking to it?
I did come across this http://www.everyhue.com/vanilla/discussion/161/winhue-windows-application/p1 and hoped I could use cmd line arguments to control my lights but I cant seem to get it working and the project doed not appear to be very active.

XBMC (Old board see 'KODI' above) / Couple of quick question
« on: March 06, 2014, 08:32:19 AM »
Hi,

1 - I can see that there are standard commands for browse recently added episodes and albums but I cant see how to do this for Movies?
2 - Ive successfully created commands to launch project free tv & radio. Cant seem to do the same for pseudotv as when I go to my addons folder, its not listed with a addon.video.example type name, its just a string of text (sorry dont have it in front of me at the moment) tried just plugging this into the command but no luck.
3 - Is it possiible to create a command to launch a plugin at a certain entry point e.g. project free tv / tv / last 24 hours or radio / local stations/ etc.  I'm guessing I can just add the scroll and select actions to the command, is this correct or is there a cleaner way to do it?

Thanks in advance

General Discussion / New user having no luck

Hi,

Just discover vox commando and I'm very excited by the possibilities. However I've fallen at the first hurdle. It's talking to xbmc and the android app but as soon as I send a command from voxwav, commando crashes.
I've tried a previous version, running as admin, changing volume setting but it is still crashing every single time.
Any help would be much appreciated as I'd really like to get this up and running..
Running on win7 64.  App on android 4.3 (also tried on 4.1)
