Integration Ideas / Re: Any Philips Hue users here?
« on: June 12, 2014, 07:36:37 PM »
I have been playing with the commands listed in this thread and gotten things working pretty well.  I just can't shake the feeling James and/or Nim could ROCK THIS - strobes and transition times come to mind!  A plug in would make my life complete.... or at least a little more fun.

Since I personally have more money than time or skill I thought I would float an option to see if anyone bites.  I'd be willing to buy an extra copy of Vox to donate towards the masters getting a Hue kit (3 bulbs and a controller).  Not sure if a plugin could be created but I'm sure they would find a way to make it sing.

And I know you both would love it - red alert, disco and tweak the intruder alert!  Don't pretend to be too grown up to appreciate blue light!  Kit is two bills...

Anyone else got a few bucks to support this?

(Alright, I want it so much I'd buy two xtra licenses... It's *that* cool).

Feature Requests / Re: Belkin Wemo and Phillips Hue Support
« on: March 01, 2014, 04:07:00 PM »
Hi Kalle,

Thanks for the response, I think I even understood a little bit  ;D.

The wemo seems crazy the way it handles allocating their IPs - They don't show up on my routers list of assigned devices so I wasn't able to reserve an IP via MAC address.  Almost like they sniff the network to find the IP range, and then just pick one themselves (without actually asking the router for one or registering!).

I dunno, probably my crazy network - I'm just mailing one to James and let him sort it out :).  Zwave stuff blows Belkin out of the water anyway so I don't imagine I will use them anyway.

I have a wemo wall outlet (plugs into existing outlet)I can donate to the cause.  I picked up a few before I got into the zwave stuff.  Personally, I find they do some funny IP stuff - IP changes frequently for no reason I can determine and I don't see a way to set a static one.

If James wants to send me a private with the shipping address I will send it off (and hardly ever show up at his place looking for custom code).

General Discussion / Basic setup complete, now looking for some easy wins!
« on: February 28, 2014, 06:15:10 PM »
Hi everyone,

I have my initial setup running and am very pleased with the results.

Vox controlling scenes/devices from vera
Vox controlling my IR devices via usb uirt (haven't found I needed event ghost, Vox does everything I need  ;D)
Using Amulet remote for voice input
And, of course controlling xbmc

Now I am looking to trick things out a bit further, but my time is limited to short bursts of freedom.  I see many members working through various projects so I want to put this out there.  Does anyone have any fun/useful items they can share that are pretty much ready to go (minimal tweaking required to get working and stable)?

So far I've stolen (not really) the trek acknowledgements from  Agilehumour (thanks man!) but I am hoping others can add some easy wins for me.

Come on Vox community, hook a brother up!

General Discussion / Re: Can Vox still run when Windows desktop is locked?
« on: February 19, 2014, 02:01:45 PM »
I am using Win7 64 with an amulet remote.  When the workstation is locked, Vox does not accept commands.  Should it?

When I log back in I had to restart Vox to get it functioning again, I did not try setting it to Off then On.  I will check it out when I get home tonight.  My goal is to have everything running on one windows box (vox, event ghost,  amulet and usb-uirt dongles) but be able to lock the workstation so my kid doesn’t wreck anything when he starts banging on the keyboard or chewing on the mouse.

Perhaps I can achieve the same functionality with a screensaver and password...

For the service stuff, there are a few programs that claim to be able to run any GUI app as a service so that you don't have to be logged for things to run and remain active - I wasn't too happy with the result so I thought I would leave that alone for now.

Side note:  Vera, Z-wave dimmers, amulet remote and Vox are crazy fun... I can't stop walking around the house turning things on, off, and running scenes.  Next up: IR commands to trick out the multi-media side of things.  Gonna try using Vox to send the IR through a usb uirt and see if I can work without event ghost.

I appreciate the development of this awesome product and all the helpful info in these forums.

General Discussion / Can Vox still run when Windows desktop is locked?
« on: February 19, 2014, 01:04:58 AM »
Hi everyone,

I am having heaps of fun with Vox, Vera, Amulet and as many Z-wave devices I can make up reasons to buy.  I've hit something stupid that I can seem to work around - Vox stops working when I lock my windows workstation.  When I log back in, the GUI is active, but I have to restart it to get it working again.  Played around with difference ways to run Vox as a service but I can't get it to go.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for your time.
