I use a FLIRC with my amulet and it's alright.  The usb motion activated mic is just great for issuing commands to Vox - *but* its function as a universal remote just isnt very good.  I hate to bag on it, because I really appreciate this kind of kit, but it should be better.  Hell, even an updated model - I'd buy a couple!  New features! Some kind of development! Price is more than fair though, and and if you just program the flirc to pickup the default keys it's pretty reliable.

Don't think there really is an all in one solution but flirc and amulet well worth the cash - and both have lasted through a pretty fair amount of abuse over the years, and no problems.

I'd love Amulet developer to chime in... another model one day? Got any plans or is it pretty much what it is? We want MOAR!

General Discussion / Re: Can TTS just play a wav file?

I did!  Sorry man, I thought I posted a reply gushing my happiness; I must have just started playing instead.  It's lets me move sound effects (playing wavs) around as I move the TTS voice around from room to room (via different audio outputs).

(okay, it's the startrek noises >.>  )

Nevermind, I see it isnt that straightforward.  I will play around and see what I come up with.

Can Vox change MM and XBMC audio outputs while those programs run?

I have MM and XBMC playing to the windows default audio out.

I have TTS playing to a separate output.

I would like to play wav files to the same output as TTS, not the default audio out.

Better? :)

I know, I'm always crazy :)

My deal is I want to be able to send some wav files to the same audio endpoint that TTS is using (I move it between stereos kind of thing).  Since these files are pre-recorded, I don't want a payload converted to wav and then played.  I honestly searched first :)

Know what I mean?

Can anyone offer thoughts?

Other Plugins / Re: Hue plugin problems

2nd controller was for playing with a second separate test rig... Different gear in a different room kinda thing.  I only mentioned it in case it was switching between controllers that was causing the pairing issue.  No prob for me cause the keithj69 work around is good  :)

I've run into the same issue with stable  2.1.0.3 and alpha 2.1.0.5

Thought it might be related to my having added a 2nd hue controller for testing; I couldn't get the hue plug in to release the first controller and find the second.  Even reinstalling Vox didnt give me the option to change.  I unplugged first controller, plug in saw second controller but could not pair.

I had an old copy of Vox 2.0 - used the trick above (thanks!!) pairing with the old version, then running the latest Vox.

Hue version 1.6 I believe.

Lemme know if I can assist with anything.

Integration Ideas / Re: Any Philips Hue users here?

New plugin works fantastic and performs changes really quickly.  Easy to set and does everything I wanted.

So.
Very.
Happy.

Seriously, I highly recommend adding hue lights to any media setup if you have a little disposable cash.  Great fun and increases show off factor big time.

Thanks again James.

(Did I mention so very happy?)

Donation logged.  *please* tell me we are almost there!  Come on people, you know you want coloured lights goodness fully integrated with Vox.  If you have a hue, toss a couple bucks into the project.  If you don't, pick one up now and toss a couple bucks into the project.  You will make more friends, throw better parties, get promoted at work and have to beat the chicks off with a stick.

Seriously.

You nailed it Casmo.  Once you have a few lights, as soon as you add the colour options; there as just too many combos to use smoothly and quickly with buttons/screen interface. With Vox it's 'I'm talking to a starship cool'... especially with a few well placed TTSs and ability to play audio files.

I've got a few zwave dimmers and blast ir with a usbuirt - the combos are getting pretty funny.  With coloured lights, it's over the top  ;D

I can probably pick up another kit this weekend! steal 2 bulbs outta it and donate the box, controller and 1 bulb.  Now that's not the same fun/ experience as a new box and starting with only one bulb kind of blows ( I wanted more the second I had three lit up) so I'm happy to stick to my original 2 Vox license pledges.

Lol Vox licenses as an expression of currency :)

Anyway, so yeah - the crowd funding link comes at a great time (but we don't want anything to take priority over hue (think bird feeder plugin) so we gotta get James and Nim hooked pronto)
