Feature Requests / VoxWav and new Sonos Plug-In
« on: July 19, 2015, 01:19:47 PM »
Was just thinking for anyone out there who uses multiple Android tablets (running VoxWav) in each room and also has Sonos multi-room audio.

Maybe James could alter VoxWav so that each client is aware of its room location and also have VC route the audio feedback (TTS etc) through the Sonos in that room (via switching the Sonos Plugin to issue a zone player change)

For clarity, here is an example....

Android Tablet in Bedroom (running VoxWav)
Sonos Play1 in Bedroom
Central PC running VC in some node location within the house

User in Bedroom issues a cmd to VC via VoxWav
The VoxWav instance knows it's running in the Bedroom and is processing a spoken cmd
It instructs the Sonos Plugin to re-route any VC response to the Sonos Play1 in the Bedroom

I imagine this might be able to be achieved through the logic built into VC, however I am still fairly new to this.

General Discussion / Mic Level or Line Level output?
« on: October 14, 2013, 06:24:39 AM »
Just been looking as some microphones for my VC project and found the Crown PZM-11(LL). There are two versions, one with Mic-Level output and the other with Line-Level output. This Mic will be directly connected to the PC, and I am not sure which I need?

Any help?

iTunes / iTunes teething issues
« on: October 13, 2013, 01:55:58 PM »
This might be just me not setting up some parameters but sometimes I get some weird results when using VC with iTunes...

Example... (VC has read in my iTunes dbase of 600 songs)

Issue 'play song Running up that hill' and get a recognition of 92.1%. I can see that VC sends an iTunes.rqSong Running up that hill
but on iTunes I can see it checking the voxTemp 'Playlist' with zero items

Is there anything I can do to fix this??

Also when VC sees multiple possibilities in iTunes I get a black box with 'iTunes Basic Commands' and ...

1 Play Song (Lapdance)
2 Play Song (Low)

etc

How do I select the option verbally? Can I turn this off as I plan to run the whole system without a screen..?

Would renaming the songs within iTunes help with indexing?

General Discussion / PC Hardware
« on: October 11, 2013, 06:09:15 AM »
Probably been covered a zillion times, however I did a search and looked on the Wiki and could not find anything...

What would be the min hardware spec for running VC? I ask this as i am looking at the HTPC / Intel NUC type machines. They will run Win7/8, but wanted to know if there was any min spec say on Processor (eg Celeron etc)

Thoughts?

General Discussion / Using VC in multiple rooms
« on: September 13, 2013, 08:02:31 AM »
Hi there - First Post, so here goes...

Been looking at VC for a bit after seeing Mr Wolfs demo on YouTube.

What I am thinking of is using VC in multiple rooms in the house, all run from a central PC. The setup would be along the following lines, however I am open to suggestions...

1..Each room having Speaker, Mic and PIR (PIR will be used to detect room occupancy and enable Mic/Speaker)
2..All Mic's will route back to PC running VC with some kind of multiplexed input card (not decided how to do this yet)
3..Will use a multi-channel Amp to supply speakers (Output from PC sound card)
4..PIR will need to have some kind of timed lockout so as to hold Mic/Speaker open in the event that the room is occupied and another room is entered by another person

At the moment this is just for Audio i.e iTunes so not looking past that - Just need to research if this is doable in the first place and how much hardware I would need, and what niggles I would encounter (Speaker 'pops' when enabling speaker in an occupied room)

Anyone done anything similar with VC? I don't want to go down the route of SmartPhone being used as Mic as planning on use by the family (via Profiles)
