iTunes / Re: Set AirPlay device in iTunes
« on: June 28, 2014, 01:51:42 PM »
As far as I know there is no way to tell itunes how/where to use airplay because Apple did not implement this in the Windows/iTunes SDK/API.  The API is actually quite ancient.  I think it was released before airplay even existed and they have not bothered to update it once since then AFAIK.

That makes sense, thanks!

Maybe its a bad idea to base home audio on iTunes then..considering it already isn't the best and doesn't seem like the support will last?

That looks pretty cool, thanks!
I guess the next question is: can you control software like this via VoxCommando or HTTP?

This is a little bit overkill for me since I only want to output iTunes audio via AirPlay (and it already has AirPlay functionality built in). I was thinking of using mouse clicks to enable it but half the time iTunes doesn't even gain focus even though VC is setup to focus it.

iTunes / Set AirPlay device in iTunes

I'm wondering if there's any possibility to choose AirPlay device via VoxCommando (or any other way, really...). My receiver can't output digital signals to zone 2 so if I can AirPlay to it it'll alleviate that issue.

Thank you! It seems fairly easy to program in the commands to send to VC so I'll give that a shot.

Edit:
This is actually a much more elegant solution, it runs much more quickly than using the trigger from the Vera plugin and requires one simple command for me:
sendVC("iTunes.rqPlaylist&&Relaxing")

I figured out how to get the events working, but now I've got a bit more of a problem. It seems that over at the Vera forums they don't think it is a Vera issue - so maybe its VoxCommando?

I've described the problem at the micasaverde forums: http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,25462.0.html

Awesome, thanks for the resources!

I'm not sure if this is doable...but I'm hoping I can set a Vera scene to execute a voxcommando command on my HTPC. The reason for this is that sometimes I want to be able to activate a scene without a voice command (say via the vera remote app or a wall scene controller) and I'd like to take advantage of some of the great iTunes and XBMC integration capabilities of vox commando (since I can't find another easy way to play XBMC or iTunes).
