XBMC (Old board see 'KODI' above) / Finding random episode of...
« on: February 25, 2015, 09:52:05 AM »
I'm trying out the find random episode of [series] command, and VC brings me to the Videos main view rather than the menu with the actual show.  I did a GenXML, restarted VC, and still happening.  Maybe I don't understand enough about XJSON to know what I'm doing wrong.  Any advice?

VoxCommando Basics and Core Features / VC (nonSP) - SAPI
« on: February 12, 2015, 05:25:17 PM »
Jitterjames!  I tried what you advised, and copied my VC SP folder and cloned it, renamed it.  Then I used only VoxCommando.exe, instead of SP so that I can use the standard engine.  I'm getting way more false positives (even setting the confidence level at 85 or above), then I was with SP.

Then I deleted that whole folder and did a completely clean install.  Same thing.  Now I've been away from VC for a long time, so am definitely rusty, and started with SP, so that's all I'm familiar with in terms of the setup process.  Are there things I'm forgetting to do in Windows to tune the voice recognition levels?

I'm using an open mic for now (CAD u7), but again it seems SP behaves really well, but VC Standard is picking up lots of things even when I'm not speaking (a cough by someone in the room was interpreted as launch kodi on the clean install, a tap on the desk issued the command "go up", or initiated a google search on the non-clean install).

Could it be just that the SP speech engine is just better with an open mic and that VC Standard is super sensitive with an open mic setup?

Hi -- I saw that VC got updated with GGCal plugin 3 integration.  I had used GGCal before it broke on VC (SP) to pull any friends' birthdays as part of a morning update as a reminder.  It worked beautifully for a while, but obviously stopped working once google changed the way things work.

Now I'm trying to get it to work again.  I took the latest stable version of VC.  Put the installer file in my VC folder (after having backed it up), and then proceeded to install the update.  The GGcal 3 plugin shows up, activated it, granted google access to VC and then checked to make sure all my feeds were there.  When I click on Get Events button, it does indeed pull up the birthdays for the day on the calendar.  But then when I go to my logical command builder, and issue the command GcCal.GetToday Friends' Birthdays, the history window shows no events.

Wanted to see if anyone else has played around with the new plugin and encountered the same issues.

Also, if I wanted to migrate my SP to the standard VC (so that I can get dictation), how would I do it?  Would I make a copy of the VC SP folder, then just install the latest stable, but select SAPI instead of MS Platform 11?  Will that allow me to keep all my commands but installed into a standard VC installation?

I tried doing that very quickly just as a test, and it seems VC (standard) was picking up all manner of noises on the mic and interpreting them as commands (like a tap on the table became launch kodi, no vocal commands issued).  It seems I'm missing something here with regards to Speech Recognition sensitivity, as on the SP version, it does not do this.

In any case, would really appreciate any help!  Thanks.

General Discussion / Prefix Question
« on: December 22, 2014, 07:58:12 PM »
Is there a way to make the prefix act a bit like Siri or Google Now, in that you can pause after invoking the prefix (say Jarvis), and that VC will be listening for a command for a window of time?

I ask only I've been conditioned to invoke first, and then say the command, rather than having to formulate the command and say everything in one go.

Ideally for me, VC would normally be on Standby (yellow status). I would want to invoke the prefix, there would be a tone to let me know VC is listening, and then be given a window of time (say 30 seconds or a minute) in which to to say the command.  After which, VC would go back into standby.

Not sure how to go about it, but thought I would get some advice and pointers and then try to figure it out from there.  Thanks!

Kodi (XBMC) Frodo / Gotham / Isengard / Jarvis / New Category
« on: August 07, 2014, 12:59:18 PM »
Hi -- was wondering how if there is a tutorial for adding a new category in XBMC to VC.  For example, a Video category that is neither Movie or TV Show (I was thinking about adding some large video screen savers that I don't want to lump in to Movie or TV Show).  How would I go about generating XMLs and building commands so that Vox Commando can do the same search and play commands for this new group?

Also, conceptually, if it's a completely new group -- say adding Hyperspin/PC Games category -- would it be the same process?

Thanks.

Version 2 updates / Dictation
« on: August 04, 2014, 01:04:13 PM »
So expanding some of the functionality of my VC, I came upon the Wikipedia and Our Groceries threads.  I'm currently using SP version of VC because I am using a bluetooth headset.  But I know there's no dictation function with SP.  Is there a workaround for either of these functions or is the best way to just install a second instance of VC?  Thanks for the advice.

MediaMonkey / Podcasts
« on: August 04, 2014, 01:01:25 PM »
Hi -- hope everyone is well.  I continue to tinker with VC and am so impressed with all the things it can do!  On Media Monkey -- is there a way to accurately play podcasts (which are usually the same name, but with a different date attached to each episode) that are available in MM?  I tried play song "podcast name" -- but it doesn't find it.  Couldn't find any info on this through search and looking at the topics on the Media Monkey support forum for VC.

Thanks!

VoxCommando Basics and Core Features / Vox Commando Configurations
« on: July 23, 2014, 12:55:56 PM »
Hi -- sorry to keep posting questions as completely new to VC.  I first started with a Media Monkey standard configuration and started adding some plugins (GC iTach, etc).  I backed up my configuration to a zip.  Did a quick search but couldn't find how I can reload my old configuration from zip.

Also -- can I just use this configuration and add XBMC functionality or do I have to use the standard XBMC Gotham config to be able to control XBMC.  It seems from the videos that JitterJames is able to control everything in one instance of VC.  If I added the plugins for XBMC to my MediaMonkey configuration, what else do I need to do to load all the standard voice commands for XBMC?

Thanks for your patience as I figure this stuff out.
