Off Topic (not related to VC) / Software simular to VC
« on: May 11, 2013, 10:07:31 AM »
I found a lifehacker post that shows someone uses android speech recognition to control his electronica.
Ofc this software isn't as versatile as VC ;).

MediaMonkey / Mediamonkey error with latest VC
« on: February 04, 2013, 04:06:30 PM »
Hello everyone

I've run into a problem regarding VC (first occurred when to version updating to 0.9.8.0) and MM.
I can't send voice commands to MM with VC, unless I run MM as administrator (every time). The strange thing is that when I use a backed up, older version (0.9.6.8) of VC, I don't have to run MM as administrator for VC to work. Both versions are in the same folder, both are allowed by windows firewall and are sending the same commands.
I get the following error appears in VC history: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID ... failed due to following error: 80080005

Is this because of the update? or am I doing something wrong somewhere

Regards

VoxWav Free and VoxWav Pro / Voxwav 2.2.1
« on: September 30, 2012, 04:36:59 PM »
James. I've found 2 'bugs' after playing with voxwav for some time.
- Hard thumps on my phone (like tapping it hard) or sudden very quick movements (e.g. sideways, not necessarily tilting the device 90 degrees around the x-axis like one normally does to activate the mic) activates the microphone a couple of seconds. The mic automatically deactivates without me moving my phone or pressing any buttons. Phone: galaxy S2, cyanogenmod 10 (jelly bean).
- voxcommando regularly crashes when using voxwav. Windows shows a VC error message (but VC keeps working if I ignore the warning every-time i think). I'm not sure what triggers the crash. I'll keep you updated!

Any other users who experience this behaviour?

VoxWav Free and VoxWav Pro / XBMC for Android and VC
« on: August 11, 2012, 06:59:53 PM »
Hey everyone.

Because I'm a poor student I need to look for cheap solutions for a HTPC. Since the arrival of the raspberry pi there have been some interesting, low cost, mini PC's developed running the android OS.
Examples: Odroid x, MK802, Mele A1000 and my personal favourite Ouya (which will receive (link)official XBMC development). These devices are far cheaper (<150$), more compact and economical then true HTPC's and offer nearly the same level of functionality (and more).

My plan is to install VC on a Windows 7 PC (old laptop which I will be using as a media server). I will then use Voxwav on my phone to control VC on the laptop. I will configure it so that it can control my desktop PC upstairs (which also has VC installed, by using Tellvoxcommando or something) and control my (furture) android based HTPC.

XBMC for android is currently being developed, and already has a (link)working beta which is pretty functional (except for library mode). I installed it on my android phone and naturally I had to test if I could get Voxcommando to send commands to this XBMC version (just changing the IP in the VC XBMC settings tab to my android phone's ip).
After doing a quick test, I can conclude that XBMC for android is completely controllable with Voxcommando!! How awesome is that  ;D.

This only goes for XBMC for android though. I've spend a couple of hours on the internet finding solutions to control android with eventghost, a udp keyboard emulator or other software compatible with Voicecommando but no success.

What do you guys think?

Bug Reports / <VarName> {LastResult}
« on: June 10, 2012, 11:28:32 AM »
Think I found a small bug (sorry if this was already discovered) in VC 0.950.

The description of <VarName> reads:

Sets the user variable <VarName> to <Value>
You can access the variable in other actions by using {var.variablename}

* If <Value> is omitted then the value of {LastResult} will be used as the <Value>

However, when I omitted the value VC produced the error: Index was outside the bounds of the array
The problem was resolved when I typed in {LastResult} manually.

Feature Requests / Server - client
« on: May 19, 2012, 12:52:04 PM »
I'm planning to build a central server PC this summer which centralises all my media etc. I'm wondering if it's possible to have two instances of VC to communicate with each other.
For example: PC2 is upstairs in my room and running VC, PC1 is the central server PC downstairs and also running VC. A phone/amulet remote is used as microphone for PC 1. Saying 'PC2 play music' would play music upstairs and saying' PC1 play music' would play music downstairs.

This could also be use to circumvent the 'windows 7' only problem (PC 1 is windows, PC2 linux/mac/...), although that would require a lot of work of programming.

What do you guys think?

XBMC (Old board see 'KODI' above) / feature request
« on: January 08, 2011, 08:20:52 PM »
Is there any way to get some sort of xbmc addon support? like 'computer launch addon subtitles' would launch the subtitles addon.
I only really use the subtitle addon, but i reckon there are other VC users who use other addons or scripts.
Since i use subtitles for most of my movies/series (so i don't have to turn up the volume when eating popcorn etc) i still have to press the subtitle addon button (embeded in the transparency skin) with my remote, while i can control everything else with my voice.

Grtz

EventGhost / broadcast message
« on: August 21, 2010, 10:18:20 PM »
Hi,

I would like to start off by saying thank you for creating a program with such great potential. Keep up the good work!!

I have a question though,
first off all, i'm a pretty big noob when it comes to both voxcommando and eventghost and i have encountered the following problem.
When I say simple commands such as 'play' and 'pause' to control mediamonkey via eventghost, the following appears in the eventlog ghost: Broadcast.message '(1) button-play \r\n(2)play \r\n'
If i repeat the word 'play' sometimes the log gives me three words or four instead (see image for an example) of two so, i think its depends on how correctly i pronounce the word.
The problem is, when i create an event trigger in mediamonkey, i can only get it to respond to broadcast.message, the event trigger Broadcast.message '(1) button-play \r\n(2)play \r\n' or other variations to this don't activate the mediamonkey play action. The problem with using just broadcast.message as an event trigger is that i'm forced to use broadcast.message as well for stop, next, prev, etc and eventghost doesn't know which is which.
Other command's like mute, where i have basically the same issue with (1) and (2) or more, it mutes my system fine, so i'm not sure where the problem is exactly

only the 'broadcast message' event triggers the play action, the rest does not

Now that i'm here posting, I have another problem.
When working with the tree in voxcommando, in the tutorial you say: double click on the even icon (the lightning thingy) to open the command builder. This does not work for me, it opens nothing :S. I'm working with the latest verion of voxcommando (0.79) and use windows 7.

Kind regards
