General Discussion / VC in the rest of the world
« on: May 15, 2014, 01:29:26 AM »
Hi all VC users. I have been working alongside James and guys in NZ that do Wireless LED lights. They approached me to make a movie and saw this as a good forum to plug VoxCommando as much as I could and hopefully get some more exposure out there for us :)

Not a Mr Wulf movie at all but Im proud non the less. Thank you one and all that helped me (you know who you are)

General Discussion / XBMC Discrete pause
« on: May 10, 2014, 08:12:52 AM »
Hi everyone. I wasnt sure if making a new post or reviving an older one was the best course with this question. Please do let me know what is preffered on the forum.

I am referring to another topic re XBMC and pausing from August 2013. As some of you might know I am currently busy getting some WiFi led lights set up with my VC and vera home automation system (still cant thank James enough for his help  ;D )

My current situation is that I have configured VC to my xbmc with notifications enabled. I am using an Android device with Yatse for control from there (I'm sure that even with a pure VC setup results might be the same)

What I am trying to achieve is when I start a movie the lights should dim (This works well) and when i stop the lights should brighten agai (also working well) The problem comes with the Pause and "unpause" of the movie. This seems to be the exact same code. Is there a way around this that someone might have figured out or something I could perhaps try?

Thank you all once again!

PS - will hopefully be able to figure out setting up eventghost with my phone so that if I receive a call movies\music will pause as well :)

General Discussion / a2 airmouse and Vox WAV
« on: April 21, 2014, 02:04:47 AM »
I just want to share this airmouse with everyone http://www.minix.com.hk/Products/MINIX-NEO-A2.html

I bought this recently for my minix x7 xbmc box and up until earlier last week I didn't notice that it had a mic and speaker built in. I trid to use it with Vox Wav Pro on my minix x7 but didn't really work. It is windows compatible so I will try and test this with VC on the PC and keep you guys posted. I love my amulet but perhaps for someone on a real budget this might work providing it works with VC within windows or perhaps someone else has bought this remote as well and has had better luck with it using Vox Wav?? I would be keen to hear from anyone that might have experience with this. For everyone else I would also do my best to answer any questions that you might have to the best of my knowledge

General Discussion / ninja sphere
« on: April 21, 2014, 01:59:04 AM »
Just wondering if anyone has come across this before? http://ninjablocks.com/ the ninja block are a cool "cheap" home automation thing potentially but seeing as I already have a vera unit and busy setting it up with VC I am now looking at the ninja sphere for later this year in order to do location awareness stuff. Just wondering if anyone using VC has come across this? I emailed the guys asking about integration with Vera and the response was that they use and OPEN API but for me and my flat head it doesn't mean anything.  :bonk suppose the API stuff is exactly what James would use to give us these fantastic plugins in VC?? Doing a google on it didnt really help me understand how this would help me integrate it with my Vera and in turn VC  ;D

General Discussion / pebble watch
« on: March 31, 2014, 09:29:46 PM »
Hi all, I was recently lucky enough to score myself a pebble smart watch and I have been playing with it for two weeks now. I was just wondering if anyone else has one and how you are using it.

Currently I have it working with tasker to turn lights on \ off but im yet to get it to work with VC. I was wondering if I could maybe create a "fake" device using my Vera lite unit and via tasker\pebble trigger that device and in return it would via the VC vera plugin talk to VC. Something like a follow me type thing or even just an easy way to put VC in listen mode if there is loud music or something like that.

Has anyone thought or played with this idea before?

Any input would be great :)

Off Topic (not related to VC) / discrete codes
« on: November 19, 2013, 02:29:48 AM »
Hi fellow vox users. Are any of you currently using a website for getting discrete codes for devices like tv amps or anything IR related? I have found one site but my tv is not listed.  ::confused

Hopefully someone here has a great site(s) that they use.

Failing that is there any way of getting these codes from the device remote jtself? I have done a google search but couldnt find anything

Thanks all

Off Topic (not related to VC) / HDMI matrix switch help
« on: November 09, 2013, 09:42:41 PM »
Hi all. I cant help but feel I am missing something really dumb but I have been trying to resolve this error for some time now but just cant seem to work it out.

I recently got a hdmi matrix switch. 4in (1-4) and 2 out (A and B) marked like tis on the remote as well. So input 1 I have as RASPBMC and 2 as OPENELEC. Output 1 TV Main and 2 as Office TV.

I user USB UIRT learn to learn codes A1-4 and B1-4 and they are all tested and working. I then proceeded to export my uu_switch as an xml (attached) to directly under my VC folder. Then I tried to create a rule that would allow me to say "office source openelec" as example and it would sent the corresponding IR value from the phrase OPENELEC from my uu switch.xml file. But nothing happens :(

Any help would be much appreciated. Seems I just cant get these to work right :(

In my code below as a test I have change source raspbmc (this is my attempt to get the rule to use payload {1} from uu switch.xml
The second one change source openelec was for me to test if my IR codes were working and they in fact do USB UIRT lights up and changes to B2 with the current code in it

Code: [Select]
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>
<commandGroup open="True" name="Office TV source" enabled="True" prefix="" priority="0" requiredProcess="" description="">
  <command id="404" name="change source raspbmc" enabled="true" alwaysOn="False" confirm="False" requiredConfidence="0" loop="False" loopDelay="0" loopMax="0" description="">
    <action>
      <cmdType>UsbUIRT.Send</cmdType>
      <cmdString>{1}</cmdString>
      <cmdRepeat>1</cmdRepeat>
    </action>
    <phrase>offce source</phrase>
    <payloadFromXML phraseOnly="False" use2partPhrase="False" phraseConnector="by" Phrase2wildcard="anyone" optional="False">uu switch.xml</payloadFromXML>
  </command>
  <command id="419" name="change source openelec" enabled="true" alwaysOn="False" confirm="False" requiredConfidence="0" loop="False" loopDelay="0" loopMax="0" description="">
    <action>
      <cmdType>UsbUIRT.Send</cmdType>

Off Topic (not related to VC) / multi room single library XBMC
« on: November 03, 2013, 03:50:24 AM »
Hi everyone I just had to share the follwoing two links just incase some of you might not have known about this. I just set this up on my VC "server" and it seems to work really well. The following two link will talk about having a central MySQL library for multiple XBMC installs all over the house. Currently running this as XBMC on Windows and OpenElec on a raspberry pi. Soon to try on raspbmc as well. Coming from Plex previously I have really been missing tracking my media (what has been watched and what not) as well as being able to stop watching something in one room and carrying on in another. Although this is not perfect it really does go a long way in making everything feel a bit more tied in. If you have any questions I will try and help as best I can. In a nutshell howwver I followed the wiki (1st link) after reading the lifehacker article (2nd link) as the lifehacker one reads much easier and then if you go over to the wiki one you can sort of fill in any gaps in explanation but I do feel the Wiki is much more accurate especially the .xml template they provide and the firewall options.

General Discussion / VC migration
« on: October 17, 2013, 02:27:05 AM »
Hi all. Ive been having an odd issue lately after I replaced my old VC machine with a new computer (finally). What I did was copy my old VC folder from the original machine over to the new computer and then launched it (ver 1.158) Launching it took forever (going into not responding mode) and once going it seemed fine however if it goes into standby mode and then you want to go into listen mode again it does this same process again.

After this I upgraded to ver 1.163 (Thanks James  ;D ) but still having the same issue.

I then installed a new copy into a new folder just to make sure there wasnt anything strange on my new pc or something but it all seems fine with just a fresh install.

So just before I rebuild everything again (good practice I guess  :biglaugh ) I just wanted to know if anyone else has had this Issue before with moving their folder to a new machine. I have a few ideas but not sure.

Other info:

Plugins - AudioEndpoint, TCP, UsbUIRT, TcpMIC, XJson, Xsql
Location -  same folder name and folder location on both machine.
OS - Win 7 x64 Pro on both
AVG anti virus on new pc and NOD on old I think

Activated on second machine now as the first PC has died :(

Thanks for any help

Hi James I know you have a very system and some android devices and saw this movie and just thought it will be nice to share :)

Also Kalle not sure if you have Vera systems or not but seeing as you do some really cool things with your iRule app you might find this very insightful as well

General Discussion / TellVoxCommando
« on: September 25, 2013, 03:39:36 AM »
Hi all, really random question and not 100% sure how to ask but here goes.

Is there a way in the TellVC.exe that you can tell it an IP address to talk to?

A previous member asked about passing commands remotely. I was setting up a SSH server over the weekend with tunnels and thought.... if I can tunnel TellVC.exe commands to my home PC from a remote location.

Hope I made any form of sense.

Thanks all once again

Off Topic (not related to VC) / PVR system
« on: September 16, 2013, 05:19:52 AM »
Hi all VC forum members. I hope that someone here will be able to help me (after the laughing potentially has stopped) This might seem like a very simple question but I dont know anything about this topic and with a fair ammount of time spent I also seem to be asking google the wrong questions :)

I have no clue to PVR systems except from what I have seen and read online. However my question is as follows:

Q) how do you have to set up your PVR PC for (i hope this is the right term) encrypted TV aka TV channels that you require a set top box or decoder for? Is it just a matter of taking the output from a decoder\set top box to your PVR systems INPUT and then from there if your tv tuner card allows to use its output to your TV. Or do you bypass the output from tv tuner to tv thing altogether and just use your as eg xbmc machines with an add-on to watch TV from there on out?

My main focus here is to clarify how you use the encrypted signals. The free to view\air makes sense but the not something that you run through a set top box or decoder.

Any reading material or youtube clips would be much appreciated.

Thanks all
