Off Topic (not related to VC) / Animated Butler as jarvis possible?
« on: September 23, 2016, 05:02:19 PM »
Found this little animated butler.

http://www.biglots.com/product/36-animated-butler-with-serving-tray/p810247617?zcp=PD_PLA_Seasonal_Halloween_810247617&gclid=Cj0KEQjwpZO_BRDym6K_nMye7cEBEiQAVA7RaFDVLhEJzBfq3XA4QuOoTZslyXAIi2R0iLX_Oq3OtJkaApCo8P8HAQ

I'm curious if it would possible to have his mouth move with voxcommando? I'm not exactly sure how the butlers mouth moves to the words that are pre-programmed. Do you think its just opening and closing to certain input or is it setup with the voice to open and close at proper times?

I was thinking i would switch out the speaker for a better one if it didn't sound good. In the video the audio coming from it sounds pretty bad.

Anyways just a cool little side project i thought of when i saw one at biglots the other day.

I wonder if this could run on a tablet running windows 10  ::hmm

Cant see any reason you wouldn't be able to. If you can run vox on there i'm sure you can run rainmeter and be all set. This doesn't take much in resources to run it at all. I see my ram usage go up on rainmeter slightly every 1 second which is the time i have rainmeter set to refresh the skin. I have 8gb of ram and i see it reving up and down between 0.00% and 0.07% every second.

It can be very time consuming. Making the layout and floors and basic stuff is pretty simple and easy. But when you start decorating it can take a looooong time. I wanted mine to be as pinpoint accurate as I could get it so I downloaded the program "sketchup"  and started learning how to alter other objects to be closed to what I was looking for. That'd where it started turning into hours of work for 1-2 objects.

Neat. Vox, sans vox. :)

So you made the 3D plan of your house using Home Sweet Home software?

Do you have any tips for VC users if they don't have any 3D experience or experience with Rainmeter on errors to avoid or easiest way to get started?

Did you start with an existing floor plan or did you have to take measurements and make that first?

I made it using the program "Sweet Home 3d" Which is a free program.

I had absolutely 0 experience working wiht 3d objects but after 3-5 days this is where i have gotten so far. I'll take a side by side pic of my kitchen later to show how much detail and how exact you can really get everything.

Rainmeter, while not my first time using it its not something i went into knowing how to make the skins this was all researched and done over a few days. I used  /u/xtermin8r idea from this thread http://voxcommando.com/forum/index.php?topic=1502.msg20028#msg20028 A few things had to be switched around and changed but if anyone is truly curious i could provide a detailed tutorial on the part of rainmeter and voxcommando and making the switching images.

I actually started by pulling my property card from online to get the measurements from the clerk of courts website. After i used that for the basic layout i started decorating and measuring everything lol. My daughter helped out a lot with running around measuring stuff. As i was getting further into it i did start noticing things werent lining up[ right or certain rooms looked larger than they are supposed to be and i found out the clerk of courts had the wrong measurements.

A lot of the models i used came straight from this website https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com there are hundreds of thousands of free ready to use models. I was actually able to rebuild my computer down to the actual pieces and parts making it up in the 3d home model.

I put this up over on reddit as well if you guys want more info or to check out the conversation surrounding it over there.

https://www.reddit.com/r/homeautomation/comments/539hwf/my_rainmeter_and_voxcommando_3d_virtual_desktop_ui/

But yea as i said if anyone wants some examples or a tutorial on achieving this i can whip that up.

Before doing that i tried Just turning off the option "generate events" saved it and then turned the option back on and saved again and now it looks like its working. If this happens again ill try the other option you gave me. Thanks guys

What kind of Vera do you have?

I would do a fresh blank install to a new folder first and just enable and set up the Vera plugin to see if it works.  If it doesn't work then let me know.  If it does then we can try to figure out what you did to break it in your other setup.

I have a vera lite

Did a fresh install and it is working.

I guess you must have.  Are you getting any Vera events?

Make sure "Show All Events" is checked in the VC dropdown "Options" menu.

In the Vera plugin you must click "Save Options" after enabling "Generate Events".

Did you ever use the "Edit Event Variables" in the Vera plugin?

Only time i ever remember getting vera events showing in the history panel is when im firing them from within vox

Show all events is checked in the options drop down

generate events is also checked and saved

ive never looked at the "edit event variables" at all.

I honestly never even knew that vox could do this. I just figured it was a limitation on the veras side preventing it so never even really asked about it. Now i feel pretty dumb considering all the work arounds ive tried to go through because of this lol.

Should i just try a fresh install and move all my stuff over to the new install? Or is there a way i can fix this without doing that?

huh i must have broke something along the way then. I just used the vera android app to turn off my dining room lights after clearing the history and nothing popped up at all.

Those events should already be appearing in the VC history window if you have the "Generate Events" box checked in the Vera plugin settings.

Is this supposed to also generate an event if the device was shut off through a different program? Like if i use my phone to turn off a device with the vera app will this generate an event in voxcommando?

VoxCommando Basics and Core Features / Desktop Widgets

I just created a 3d model of my home using a program called "sweet home 3d" I set the image of my house as the desktop background and now i would like to make some widgets using rainmeter and voxcommando to get like a live status of each device in my house.

In the image above i have the house set as desktop and on the right i have some status widgets i have made for the devices in the house using rainmeters webparsing plugin.

The problem is that these widgets will not autoupdate. So i need some way for my vera to send updates to voxcommando so that the widget will update.

here is an xml of one of the widgets

Code: [Select]
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>
<!--VoxCommando 2.2.2.3-->
<command id="563" name="Living Room" enabled="true" alwaysOn="False" confirm="False" requiredConfidence="0" loop="False" loopDelay="0" loopMax="0" description="">
  <action>
    <cmdType>Vera.Get.Status</cmdType>
    <params>
      <param>9</param>
    </params>
    <cmdRepeat>1</cmdRepeat>
  </action>
  <if ifBlockDisabled="False" ifNot="False">
    <ifType>(A)==(B)</ifType>
    <ifParams>{LastResult}&amp;&amp;1</ifParams>
    <then>
      <action>
        <cmdType>Results.Replace</cmdType>
        <params>
          <param>1</param>
          <param>On</param>
        </params>
        <cmdRepeat>1</cmdRepeat>
      </action>
    </then>
    <else>
      <action>
        <cmdType>Results.Replace</cmdType>
        <params>
          <param>0</param>
          <param>Off</param>
        </params>
        <cmdRepeat>1</cmdRepeat>
      </action>
    </else>
  </if>
  <action>
    <cmdType>File.Write</cmdType>
    <params>
      <param>C:\Users\theki\Documents\Rainmeter\Skins\Home Automation\Lights\Living Room\VoxLivingRoomLights.txt</param>
      <param>&lt;BEGIN&gt; {LastResult} &lt;END&gt;</param>
    </params>
    <cmdRepeat>1</cmdRepeat>
  </action>
</command>

Is what im trying to achieve possible?

Hi
Ill post some info for you soon.

Hey could you post more information on how to achieve this?

EDIT: Figured it out but i do have a question about it that i posted over here.

I just got it running using

VoxCommando.exe -33000 "VC.TriggerEvent&&fan.off

i just had to add voxcommando into the environment variables to get this to run. All is well now if i run into any other issues ill try the other method you listed james. Thanks for the help!

I was just playing around with HomeAssistant and was trying to find a way to create a button in home assistant using the command_line component that will trigger an event i made for my x10 fan module. I'm receiving the event through the tcp webserver for voxcommando but i keep getting it over and over again from a different port each time. which just keeps turning it on and off over and over.

The switch i created looks like this obviously port and ip are my machines ip address and port is the port used for the webserver in voxcommando

switch:
  platform: command_line
  switches:
    fantoggle:
      oncmd: "/usr/bin/curl -X GET http://myipaddress:PORT/api/VC.TriggerEvent&&fan.toggle"
    mypc_off:
      offcmd: "/usr/bin/curl -X GET http://myipaddress:PORT/api/VC.TriggerEvent&&fan.toggle"

Is there something i'm doing wrong here?

heres a screenshot
