Other Plugins / Re: TCP Plugin
« on: June 18, 2015, 11:39:17 AM »
I currently have openhab sending a message via http to eventghost whenever my front door opens then use the broadcaster plugin to send an event to VC.......

I'd like to eliminate that middle man. Unless there is a better way to communicate between openhab and VC I'm assuming using the http api would be easiest. What is the correct format to trigger an incoming event via the API?

If you haven't seen it, in the options/plugins section when you mouse over the sonos plugin it shows the help text for the DirectX keyboard emulation plugin.

I have a macro I'm working on that uses the doubleup function on an auto playlist. The problem is sometimes that playlist will contain a song that is the only song by that artist I have. I wonder is there a way to manually run the double up and have it remove a song from the list if there is no matching artist?

Just brainstorming...

VoxCommando Basics and Core Features / Re: Scrape, unexpected error

Using Chrome, the reply page in instantaneous, and the server immediately starts shutting down. It does not shut down from the scrape command, but I did switch to using eventghost and it works like a charm. I do wonder about the error though.

VoxCommando Basics and Core Features / Scrape, unexpected error
« on: May 22, 2015, 12:06:14 PM »
I'm trying a program (sleep on lan) on my plex server that will let me hibernate or sleep the server from a remote computer via http. I setup a macro to scrape the url and it pauses VC for a couple of minutes then throws an error and continues with the macro.  Putting the same url in chrome or ie on the VC machine works fine.

The url is http://92.168.11.205:7770/hibernate which is the ip of the plex server and the port the sleep on lan program is running. using /sleep gives the same thing.

here's the info from the log after the error.

Code: [Select]
5/22/2015 9:52:35 AM 373 Action:  Scrape - http://192.168.11.205:7770/hibernate
5/22/2015 9:52:35 AM 373 [action] Scrape:http://192.168.11.205:7770/hibernate

5/22/2015 9:54:15 AM 386 [error] Scrape: unexpected error

5/22/2015 9:54:15 AM 387 unexpected error in action: Scrape
System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

running in chrome the response from the loaded url is:

XML Exchange / Re: Control Roku with http commands
« on: May 16, 2015, 12:34:02 AM »
Sorry for the delay, long day... The changed channel xml worked perfectly. The scrolling works but the problem is the roku speeds up scrolling the longer you hold a button so after about 4-5 moves it's impossible to control where to stop scrolling at. It would need to scroll slower at a set pace to really be useful.

Myself it's probably something I'd never use, but I can see where for some others it would be useful as well as just having a complete set of controls for it.  My main purpose for the roku is really for Plex and the occasional Pandora. Although the new Youtube channel is also getting more use as of late.

Almost on the scrape channel command. It scraped 13535" type="appl" version="3.1.4 for my plex channel and obviously threw an error. I edited it to just 13535 and it launched fine. This is how I was loading them myself but adding the channel numbers manually. The scrape function would be a great help but I need to spend more time in regex to figure it out myself..

It doesn't seem to work but then again my Roku is currently playing Game of Thrones and I'm liable to get strung up if it did pause... I'll take a look at it later tonight when I get back home.

I control my living room Roku with VC. I'm able to say switch the living room roku to plex, pandora, netflix, etc. Then I have a group I can enable by saying enable/disable roku controls, then go up go left, select etc.

This is all done by sending events to EventGhost which has a Roku plugin and letting it handle the actual controlling the Roku.

But to be honest after setting all up I found I only use it for selecting the roku channel. The up down etc is easier to grab the remote. It is nice though when you can't find the remote.

I've been trying to figure out a cheaper home brew alternative to sonos but am wondering if it's worth the cost for something that just works.  I'm assuming since you're writing the plugin, you have some. Is it (or will it be) possible to send the TTS  to different zones? ie: if the request comes in from VW on a tablet assigned to zone 3 (master bedroom) then TTS responses would automatically be routed to that sonos speaker?

Worked great for me. I changed the group to 3 for my lights and in my case had to change it to change the three lights individually rather than a loop because the lights are numbered 1,4,5 on the hub.

At this point I have 26 lights on this hub with only 9 of them actual hue full color lights. There's no reason to have the hallway lights turn on and purple when a song plays.  :biglaugh

I have those as full color and use  motion detectors so if anyone gets up in the middle of the night for the bathroom, it turns on red as low as they will go so you can see but it doesn't kill your eyes and wake you up any more than you already are.  They also come in handy here in Oklahoma when my weather radio gets triggered for a storm or tornado and the external trigger now fires the Red Alert command in VC.

Thank you very much. This not only gave me exactly what I was after, it let me see where I went wrong in my own attempts to change it.

And you're probably right, other than for my own personal giggles, this will only come into play during a party in which case I would have created a pre-set playlist and could have them all cleaned up ahead of time.  The only place I seem to be running into them is in my attempts to possibly over-tag my music as I convert it from Vinyl to FLAC to play from MM.
