Tutorials / Re: Number of noob questions
« on: August 22, 2021, 09:06:50 AM »
When in doubt read up a bit. There is a ton of information available on this forum and in the Wiki.

The time it takes to load is a function of the command tree and its complexity and the number of plugins activated. And of course the speed of your computer. If you have just installed the app (correctly) and have not generated large payload XML files then it should load quickly.

The app not loading is not normally an issue, but I don't have enough information to know why you experience that, or think you are experiencing it. By default only one instance of the app can be open at a time. If another instance is running in the background that could prevent a new one from opening.

You should not be editing the XML file yourself especially when you do not know what you are doing. You have probably created an invalid XML file which would explain some of the issues. Click edit on the main menu to modify your commands.

VoxCommando Basics and Core Features / Re: Training
« on: July 28, 2021, 04:32:33 PM »
Note that none of the following applies to the SP version of VoxCommando which cannot be trained.

VoxCommando (regular version) uses the  Windows desktop speech recognition as its engine.

By default the Windows speech recognition engine learns as you speak. This can be good as long as it is correctly understanding you and learning the right words. In general use it's probably a good idea to have this feature disabled or it will learn incorrect phrases and corrupt your speech profile to some extent. That is why it is turned off by default. You could turn it on  when you are in a quiet room and are speaking clearly giving correct commands (phrases that exist) in order to train it to your voice but there are better ways to train the engine.

If you are in a multi user environment you might not want to train it all all.

But if you are the primary user and feel training is needed, then you are best off using the built in Windows speech training tools. https://mcmw.abilitynet.org.uk/windows-10-speech-recognition-0

Or if you have specific commands where you are having trouble getting them to be recognized then there is a more targeted tool in VoxCommando that you can use which is described here: https://voxcommando.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=Profile_Training_Tool

This looks related to the issues here: http://www.eventghost.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9784

or this one specific to Broadcast plugin: http://www.eventghost.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10472

I personally ran into all sorts of problems when trying to use a newer version of EventGhost and since there was nothing I needed in the newer versions I downgraded.

I'm using 0.4.1r1722

I could not find the add-on in all addons after successfully installing zip file, but it does connect now
I'm not sure if the addon still works with version 14 of Kodi but it's not really important since you don't need it for simple commands to work.

When I tested, it timed out
credentials
127.0.0.1
8080
xbmc

This is the problem.  You did not set it up correctly.  You need to follow all the setup instructions.  VC is not able to communicate with Kodi.

Also, open up the xjson plugin settings and click the button that says "Test HTTP Connection".  What happens?

Please send us a log.

If you have commands that are recognized and then work sometimes but not always then it sounds like you've got something funky going on with your system.

However if certain commands always work and other commands never work then you've probably configured it wrong. A log or even looking at your history window may show the problem.

If you are going all the way back to Kodi 14 then some of the commands may have changed. If you are using a newer configuration it might not work with older versions of Kodi.

The numbers are IDs defined by Kodi but not published anywhere I can find.

You best hope is to look at the existing commands in VoxCommando, and to look at the information in this page:
https://kodi.wiki/view/Opening_Windows_and_Dialogs

Another very useful trick is to navigate in Kodi to the section you are interested in (like music videos) and then create a Kodi favourite for one of the items (like an artist or a particular video). Then go and look in your Kodi favourites.xml to see the path created for that particular favourite. From that you will get everything you need. One of the numbers will correspond to the ID of that artist or video in the Kodi database. I believe one of the IDs will be the sub section of the category you are browsing.

Upon further inspection I can say that Kodi Matrix disables the VoxTools addon, and that will break some commands, but the commands that you are talking about still work even with the plugin disabled so I think you must have set things up incorrectly.

You need to follow this guide: https://voxcommando.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=Installation_Kodi

Pay particular attention to the "Network Settings".

The problem is Matrix disabling addons.

Quote
After an extended development and testing period, Kodi 19.0 ‘Matrix’ is now finally available for download. However, unlike the previous major Kodi iterations, this latest one comes with a significant change. More precisely, Kodi 19.0 ‘Matrix’ automatically disables incompatible 3rd-party addons – and we’re talking about a vast number of both ‘official’ and ‘unofficial’ addons.

This is a big change that will surprise many Kodi users out there, who are in for a big disappointment. So, if you’ve been building your library of Kodi addons for a long time (as many of us have), you’ll want to be careful before updating. Here’s all you need to know.

I just tested with a fresh install and it works fine with Kodi 18.9.

I have not tested with Kodi 19 yet because I don't like being their Guinea pig on new releases, but did you follow all the setup instructions correctly?  Do other commands work for you from other groups?

I do not know what you are asking.

If you are asking me to help make it so that your computer allows two programs to record from the same microphone at the same time, I am not able to help you with that.
