@bodiroga

Can you try a test with VoxWav?

please whisper a command to VoxWav and let us know if VC understand the command (I mean really whisper)

Thanks
Kalle

WTF!!!!  :o :o :o :o

If I whisper or shout to VoxWav (I'm using the free version now but I will buy the pro version when this problem is fixes ;)) then VoxCommand crashed automatically.

Does this only happen with Jelly Bean? My Galaxy Nexus, SII and Nexus 7 all have JB installed so I can't test with ICS or GB...

Best regards,

Aitor

Yes it looks like the jelly bean is the problem. I used the same VW and VC with Ice cream and has no problems.
What I can say is: VW send a file to the temp folder in Windows and it has only a tmp extention and not a wav.
Is it possible the JB send a wrong audio format?

Kalle

I can also confirm that it's happening with my Jelly Bean device.

Sorry, if going back to a previous version doesn't work, then I have no idea, but it must only be a coincidence that it happened when you installed 0.959

James, I don't know if this says something to you, but if I enable the option "Check the mic state every x seconds" I can see lots of "time since mic event...", "trying to reset" and "mic reset" events in the history tab, so it's clear that VC can't see my "Line 1" mic (remember that the mic is working fine in Windows, tested with the build in recording program").

Ohhh, fuck, I have opened the log file and this is the error I'm getting:

Ok, with the last version of VC 0.9.5.9 VoxWav is working fine in my Samsung Galaxy S2 (CM9), but now my setup using VAC with a USB mic and PocketAudio (I repeat both sounds into Line 1 and I have configured Line 1 as my standard device in windows recording settings -similar setup to the one that Kalle described here: http://voxcommando.com/forum/index.php?topic=825.msg6877#msg6877-) is no working :( :( WTF! If I use the default record program that comes with windows everything works fine, Line 1 is recognized as the record device and I can here my voice in the wma file, but VC doesn't hear anything in Line 1 (the bottom green line doesn't move). Yesterday with 0.9.5.8 the setup was working fine, but after upgrading to 0.9.5.9 I can't make it work (and installing a different version of VC, 0.9.5.6 for example, doesn't help).

James (or Kalle), do you know what's happening here???

Many thanks for your help!

I just uploaded VW 1.2b

I think it works pretty well with 0958.  I've only tested quickly though.

I hope it works well for the rest of you.

I can't make it work here, using VC 0.9.5.8 and the VoxWav.apk file that you have submitted to google code some minutes ago :-(

I think that my problem is that VoxCommando is trying to read the wav file so fast that the file transfer is not even completed. What does the android app do, wait until the recording is completed and then transmit the file or start sending the file as soon as you tilt the phone? Here is the event history that I can see in VC:

Event&&AV.Resuming
AV.Resuming
Event&AV.Mic.On
AV.Mic.On
Event&&AV.SmbTransfer.Begin
AV.SmbTransfer.Begin
Event&&AV.Mic.Off
AV.Mic.Off
Wav.FailedRead
Event&&AV.SmbTransfer.End
AV.SmbTransfer.End

Is VoxCommando trying to open the wav file before it is transferred? In my shared "wavwatch" folder I can see many android*_*_**.wav files, and if I move them to any other folder and move them again to the shared folder then VC loads them properly and the command is triggered properly.

Am I the only one with this problem?

Many thanks for your work James, the app looks great for a beta version!

get the code, report bugs, request features etc.  here: http://code.google.com/p/voxwav/

Awesome! Great to see that you are going to release the source code of the app, thanks James!

What about using Git (GitHub) instead of SVN?

Looking forward to test the app in my VC installation, although my setup using PocketAudio is working nicely ;-) I'm sure that VoxWav (I prefer VoxCommandroid :D) will be my default app once I try it, everything that comes from you is wonderful!

Thanks for all you work and best regards,

Aitor

General Discussion / Re: Kinect on E3 and the future
« on: May 21, 2012, 08:37:00 PM »
For example, it would be nice to say, "good morning computer" and have it recognize that it's you and say "good morning John" and then run some scripts.

That would be fucking awesome!

But I doubt that James would be able to do such a complex thing, he is not such a good programmer...  :P :P :P :P (Just kidding  :biglaugh)

Seriously speaking, that seems to be very very very dificult, but if James wants to try it, I will think on buying an Xbox Kinect just to help him testing! For now you should start testing if the new SDK makes speech recognition better than before. If they have improve it and considering that Kinect now knows Spanish, I will perhaps buy one to try it. James, let us know if you start playing again with Kinect! I'm really interested in your results ;)

Many thanks and best regards,

Aitor

based on the information provided in the following link: http://www.winbeta.org/news/kinect-windows-15-coming-soon-comes-new-language-support

I may take another look at the kinect when the 1.5 api comes out... as long as it will supports the Kinect made for the 360 (the one I have).

I make no promises, but I will have another look!

Many thanks to both for your help! (I should learn more ways of saying "thanks", I always use the same form and it's boring :D:D:D)

Ok, I understand that it's how windows speech engine works, it's a shame. When I have more time perhaps I can try to change the voice profile manually using a Python script and this window:

But I doubt that it will be much faster and it will be less reliable for sure.

For the "check mic status" option I'm going to disable it as I think that it makes VC less stable and I don't know if it's doing something or not. We will see if I have any problem with the mic in the next weeks.

Oh, James, one new feature that I would really love to see in VC is an option to see the time when events happen in the history tab (yeah, just like in Eventghost!). If you like the idea please take your time, it's not an important feature so you can leave it for future updates ;)

Thanks again and best regards,

Aitor

Hi James!

I have a question about the VC.SetProfile command: why does VC make a rebuild after changing the voice profile? Is it really necessary? As I have big movies, series and music databases, it takes 7-8 seconds (with an SSD) to complete the rebuild and I would like to reduce it (I know that it's not too much but I am very perfectionist and I want to make the system as fast as possible).

I suppose that VC does it because it needs to know that the voice profile has changed, but shouldn't be enough just turning VC off-on to detect it? As least it works that way to detect that the default sound recorder device has change. Am I right?

Many thanks for you help and best regards,

Aitor

PS: Ohhh, I have remembered that I also want to ask about the "check mic status every (secs)" option. How does it work? I sometimes see in the history tab messages like: "trying to reset mic: 5 seconds", "trying to reset mic: 10 seconds", "trying to reset mic: 15 seconds",... Does this mean that the mic is connected or that VC is trying simply trying to reset it without success?

Is it possible to create a voice command to rescan my MP databases for when i have added new files as VC currently cant find them ?

I'm not actually sure even what I need to do to get them added manually, I think I normally 'build missing grammars' but i notice in the MPscan plugin I can rescan my MP databases

Cheers

Edit -> Create a new command -> double click on it -> Add Action -> MpScan.GenerateAll (or Select Action from Tree -> Plugin Actions -> MpScan -> GenerateAll)

For rescanning the databases manually, being in VoxCommando's main screen, go to Plugins -> mpscan -> "scan and generate"

Hope it helps ;-)

I just tried headset from Mobiola on my ipod touch 3G and it works quite well.  I had a little trouble setting it up, but after rebooting it seems ok for now.  I'll post back more after I've played with it a little bit.  One nice thing about it is that it seems to let you set another mic to revert to when it is not connected.  I haven't tested this extensively but it seems to work, so I can set it to fall back to my amulet when the ipod application isn't running.  We still need to switch VC on and off though to get it to connect to the new microphone.

Hi James!

Is it possible to do this automatically? Is it possible for VC to detect when the default mic has change and make a quick restart? And with Eventghost? A simple python script that detects it and generate and event?

Too complicated, isn't it?

Thanks for your help  ;)

Feature Requests / Minimize to system tray on close
« on: April 21, 2012, 01:12:24 AM »
Hi James!

I know that this feature request sounds a little bit stupid, but sometimes I really miss it when I accidentally close VC  :bonk I would also love this feature cause I prefer to have my taskbar as clean as possible and have my background programs in the notification area (just like EG does).

In which level of stupidity will you place this request?  ;D ;D ;D Nah, seriously, do you find it useful? How difficult is to implement it?

Many thanks again for your work and best regards,

Aitor
