A star trek like communicator for phones, iPhone and android. Uses bluetooth 4.0. It clips to your shirt etc, is both a microphone and speaker. Touch it to speak.
Available for pre order for release this year.

Windows 8 / 10 / Re: No language suitable for speech were found...
« on: January 18, 2014, 07:14:12 PM »
Hi,

I installed windows 8.1 yesterday. When I launched VC for the first time ( 1.1.86 ) It said en-us not found switching to en-gb. After numerous restarts still no us option. This is ok for me because en-bb understands me ok as I'm australian. Perhaps its a regional setting issue ? Whilst win 8 is a poor attempt to mishmash a tablet interface on a PC, once I set it to boot into desktop mode and installed a 3rd party windows start button all is good.

What is a good microphone for speech recognition? / Kinect 360
« on: January 17, 2014, 02:06:44 AM »
Ok, I looked on ebay for second hand 360 kinect. Cheapest I could get was 69.95 plus 9.95 postage (AUD) then I had to buy a power adapter with USB cable which was 20.00 delivered. All up 100.00.
I checked with my local game store and I picked up one with cables and adaptor for 42.00 Bargain !

I downloaded SDK 1.8 installed and tested. Seemed to be hit and miss and I had to stand right in line with it, but for what I paid no problems.
I read through the forum and found a suggestion to train it a few times. Wow ! I can be anywhere in the room and it will pick me up. I am getting between 90-96 % accuracy.
My boundary mic was good, but I was never able to get it to recognise me while media was playing, the kinect can, most of the time.

So, impressed so far.

Thank you Kalle,

I appreciate all your help. I have copied this command and I am enjoying the human touch aspect. Touches like this, make it all seem more interactive.

Thanks again !

Hi James,

I re installed windows 7 and of course VC. I purchased the brian voice from Ivona and installed it. If I use the listen command and add an action TTS speak and the word is Yes. The problem is there. I then replace it with how can I help or something else it works fine. I switched back and forth same issue on Yes as a single word. If you need anything, please ask.

Hi Everyone,
Thank you for all the replies. I have attached two log files. One with ivona, one with anna. All I changed between the two was the voice and a restart of VC. With Ivona i tried to launch xvmc. With anna I was able to launch and browse.
I think I will bite the bullet and re install windows and test. It's all good fun right ?  :biglaugh

kind regards

VoxCommando Basics and Core Features / Unusal problem with listen command
« on: January 14, 2014, 05:07:20 AM »
Hi Guys,

I have installed one of the Ivona trial voices. If I use this in prefix mode it works as intended, no issues. If I uncheck prefix and use the listen command, it will understand the listen command i.e. computer, start listening etc, after that it is all unrecognised by VC. I have added a TTS action to speak " Yes " after listen command and it responds ok. Using 1.183 or 1.1.85 does same thing. If I use the supplied anna voice then there is no issues with both prefix mode or listen command.

Kind regards

Phil

General Discussion / Re: VC volume setting in windows

Hi Kalle,

Thanks for your reply. I have attached a pic, showing the windows sound mixer after launching VC. It is at the volume of the speakers. I can drag the slider to where I want and it will stay. If I restart VC after making some adjustments the level will be back to where it is in the pic.

kind regards Phil

General Discussion / VC volume setting in windows
« on: January 11, 2014, 01:24:24 AM »
Hi All,

Not sure if this is a windows thing or a setting that can be adjusted in VC. If i restart VC it will set itself to the highest volume that the speakers are set to. If I drag the slider down it will stay at what ever level I set until I restart VC again.
Is there a way to set the volume output of VC ?

kind regards

Phil

Hey Nime5ter,

Yeah I couldn't believe the price, I was expecting a dud or a knock off. Other prices ranged from $90-129 AUD. I am using a ducking code I found in a post by James. It works well so far. If the music or movie is too loud it will not work.

regards

Philby
