I can't give up that easily.  I went through the alarm clock thread and James mentioned using udpsender,  ( http://voxcommando.com/forum/index.php?topic=653.msg4655#msg4655 ).

I have a many more questions and it involves ggcal, but if this is the wrong spot and want me to move to the support sub-forum let me know.  Have to go back to work and swap out power supplies on servers, so i might not get back tonight.

thanks for the responses. I think i am going to shelve this idea for a bit.  I am going through the alarm clock posts to see what others are doing.  I think i bit off more than i can chew on this idea and will get back to it when i have more experience  :bonk.  thanks

My goal is to use my ggcal to use as a daily alarm clock based on my calendar.   I have used the tablet time example succesfully already but i am trying to figure out the ggcal stuff.
I have a calendar set just for home auto.  I want it to fire off monday through friday based on the calendar entry (morning news). Now where some logic comes in....if another entry that says pto is present, that day will not fire off morning news and let me sleep.

I have tried searching, but i may not be using the correct phrases.  any direction would be appreciated.

Integration Ideas / Re: My custom doorbell. vc+vera

This is the the only picture i have right now.   I have a new sensor coming in soon that will be dedicated to the doorbell. I will take better pictures of the build then.  In the meantime, i am looking for a new housing.

Integration Ideas / My custom doorbell. vc+vera

After a morning of playing around with voxcommando, I ventured into a project that I've needed for a long time.  A doorbell.

parts
1) voxcommando
2) veralite
3) schlage rs100hc door sensor (able to externally wire to it)
4) the cheapest non-lite doorbell button from the hardware store i could find
5) you may need some wire depending on the doorbell switch
6) a housing for the project
7) you really only need half a brain for this

Wire the switch to the sensor (pretty straight forward, only 2 wires, swap if not working).  Follow along in fireside chat #3 to setup a simple voice response when the sensor is tripped.    test.   fix.... test...bask.

caveats.  In the beginning, there was a delay in response.  Once things settle (or a heal on vera) things sped up.  Also in vera, it will appear that your sensor is always tripped.  Doesn't stop this from working.  (if i come up with something better, i'll respond here)

When I press the button, all my lights turn on to 40%(vera trigger), after 3 minutes they turn off. Then VC speaks to me letting me know someone is at the front door(fireside chat #3).

Right now it is at version 1, as the case i have it in is actually a vcr tape case.  I plan on making it much smaller, but right now, i am just happy that it is accomplished, and it works.

Why this is of value to me.
I re-purposed an non used stereo to play my sounds from my pc.  doing this means that i do not need to buy a sonos system that ties into vera with limited use.

edit:  tweaked setup; decided to turn on all lights and have them turn off after 3 minutes.

You all are great.  I was looking into this idea earlier this week and put it on hold.  I used Kalle's last command group with James command (i use notepad++).
All is great, except the jokes do not complete.  It seems it makes it about 2/3 of the way through the long jokes (testjoke.txt).  Is there a limitation on length of the joke?

I figured it out.  I was having voxwav read back and the tts response box has the limit on the phone.Once i turned on the pc speaker it works as advertised.

Does that video make any sense to y'all. I know you probably understand it already.

As an extremely new user to vc, I thank you for the video.  It answered 1) can i use tasker with vc somehow?  2)  can i do it remotely with tasker? 3) what can i do with eventghost? (lack of looking on my part). 4) can autovoice/vc understand one if they have a dip in?  :biglaugh

as a side comment, you could always set up to icon to turn on autovoice and one to tun it off.  I usually have autovoice on at night to send commands to my vera, just in case.

In all seriousness, thanks for the video.
