VoxCommando Basics and Core Features / Vox and Star Citizen
« on: June 17, 2014, 03:31:42 PM »
Hello all.

I have been out of the loop for a short while but now I am trying to play catch up.
I am heavily invested in the game star citizen, original backer and owning a bunch of ships. They have just launched the first Alpha and I would like to have Vox help me control my ship.

I have been playing with the trail version of VoiceAttack ( http://voiceattack.com/ ) which works well but I would like to use vox instead.
Here is a video of setting up VoiceAttack http://youtu.be/jvXAWblOEJw

So my question is:

I would like to use Vox V2 to get this up and running, can anyone point me in the right starting direction.

Thank you.

General Discussion / standby
« on: December 25, 2012, 05:27:17 PM »
What's the most efficient way to do this.

After I give vox a command, and it completes it I want it to asked me
"is there anything else I can do" if I say YES then vox stays in active mode but if I
say NO then vox goes into standby mode .

Any suggestions?

General Discussion / System information
« on: December 22, 2012, 01:19:31 AM »
Is there a way to have Vox do a system check on my computer,
for example, monitor my hardware such as how much space is left on the hard drive or  Check CPU%  and Memory usage.

What I would like to do is to have vox do a system check when it starts up or I can trigger one manually.
I want to say "Vox, how much memory is in use" or "how much space is left on drive C."

Is any of this possible?

General Discussion / Trigger commands based on window focus
« on: July 06, 2012, 05:23:57 AM »
I use MS office and Adobe products daily and for the most part they share the same shortcut keys for their menus, with small variations and added shortcuts, However, a hotkey in MS office might have the same name in Photoshop but uses different key combos.

Is there a way to use the same voice command but have that command trigger something different depending on which program has focus? Like having a universal IF statement.

I want to be able to have some kind of logic control so that when I say a command to Vox... Vox will use X hotkeys if X program has focus or use Y hotkeys if Y program has focus. The voice command I give Vox is the same but the hotkeys it sends are different based on which program has focus.

here is a rough example of what I am trying to do:

Me: COMPUTER OPEN NEW WINDOW
Vox: Checks which program has focus
Vox: if window focus = Photoshop { load photoshop hotkeys payload and send the command }
Vox: else if window focus = MS Word { load MS Word hotkeys payload and send the command }
Vox: else if window focus = Google Chrome { load MS Word hotkeys payload and send the command }

By doing this I could make a universal list of voice commands and have them trigger different hotkeys depending on which program has focus.

Is this at all possible or if it already is possible can you point me in the right direction?

This seems like an interesting microphone to keep an eye on.

http://www.bluemic.com/tiki/

"The new Tiki is the world's first USB microphone that mimics the intelligence of human hearing by focusing on desired sounds, minimizing background noise and knowing when to mute altogether. Tiki's two modes give any Skype user, podcaster or musician the versatility to quickly choose the best option in any situation. First, Intelligent Speech Mode brings your voice to the forefront of a conference call or chat while noise-canceling technology simultaneously minimizes unwanted, competing background noise. Natural Recording Mode captures a wide range of sources from vocals to acoustic guitar, recording high-fidelity audio with exceptional clarity. Tiki sets a new standard for crystal clear audio for wherever you go....t has two ears and a brain-- actually, two capsules and one very powerful (400MHz) DSP chip which constantly listen and compare the signal from the two opposite-facing cardioid capsules. The DSP decides which signals to pass through and compares the signals to help remove background noise. In addition, it applies noise-reduction algorithms co-developed with iZotope and then applies intelligent muting, which soft mutes whenever you aren't speaking. "

The price seems to be ok, I am thinking of purchasing one when it's available. I will share my findings.

XML Exchange / Search over 2k top Websites Directly
« on: May 10, 2012, 06:13:59 PM »
Here is a VC-group in English to search almost 2000 top websites directly, including the standard search engines. It will launch your default browser and combine the short codes with your phrase to search the list of sites directly. To get a complete list of all the available sites visit this link. http://duckduckgo.com/bang.html

Import the "VcGrp_WebSearch_using_tags" in VC editor and edit the phrases if you want
Save the "duckduckgo_bangtags.xml" in the VC payloads folder, this xml has all the shortcodes and the phrases, feel free to use the VC Payload editor to change the phrases to whatever works for you but keep the values (!tags) untouched.

General Discussion / Gmail contacts or PhoneBook
« on: May 08, 2012, 02:52:26 PM »
Is there a way to interact with google contacts, kind of like how the Google Calendar plugin works. I would like to be able to pull contact information out of google contacts, it does not need to be bidirectional, I can add contact info manually. Currently I have exported my contact's name and numbers to xml and created a payload for vox, this is working perfectly  :D.

My goal now is to find a more centralized way to interact with my contacts. It does not have to be gmail contacts it could be any contact database or CSV. I find google contacts interface easy to use but it could be any other phonebook.

The point of this is to be able to have all my contacts in one place so that I can ask Vox for John's address or birthday or pass John's phone number to my VoIP phone. I already having the last part of that working. Vox currently pulls John's mobile or business number from the xml and passes it to the VoIP phone just fine. But this means I will need to maintain two sets of contact list, one for vox and the other in CSV or google contacts which holds all the rest of John's information.

Any ideas?

PS: Thanks guys for helping me with dialing my contacts it's working perfect, loving it.  ;)

General Discussion / Samsung TV's
« on: April 25, 2012, 02:16:45 PM »
I picked up a Samsung C series TV last year, (Wal-Mart on sale) I went with this model because it comes with a built-in Network connection. I have been controlling it with my Android phone over wifi using an app called Samygo, which is basically the same hardware remote with every function and button duplicated, and so far so good. It has a media center PC attached to it running XBMC which Vox controls perfectly.

Here is my question, I found some windows versions of the Samygo app and would like to know the best way to get vox to work with it. This way I can have Vox control the TV over the network and switch to XBMC when needed. This solution will work much better for me than using an IR blaster because the TV is already connected to the network and works perfectly with my phone over wifi and will reduce the amount of extra hardware needed.
Here is the link:

http://wiki.samygo.tv/index.php5/Desktop_applications_list
I am playing with the GEMote (Multi-platform app that lets you control Samsung TVs within your local WLAN or LAN network. Supported are all Samsung C-model and D-model TVs starting from the 6 series.)

There are a few otheres such as  - Samsung Remote (Port of iOS app - TV Remote. For advanced control Samsung C-series TV)

What do you think, what's the best way to get Vox to control the TV over the network.

Feature Requests / VoIP Softphone
« on: January 22, 2012, 01:58:23 AM »
In an ongoing effort to power off as many things as I can find in my home and home office. I have switched my hardware phone to a VoIP softphone, I am currently using CounterPath Bria as my softphone, ( full disclosure; I use to sell Business and Residential VoIP lines, hardware and service plans. ) Anyways, I did not see any VoIP related feature request so I figured I would submit one.

Is there a way to use Vox to control a VoIP softphone to make and receive calls. I have been using the paid version from CounterPath called Bria but it functions just the same as the free version called x-lite (http://www.counterpath.com/x-lite.html). I am not sure if there is an API for the free version, I would need to do some more digging. But do you think there might be a way to control it with Vox. Or is there any other softphones that someone can recommend that would be a better candidate for Vox control.

I seem to have lost my X10 receiver so I am looking to buy a new one, I notice that they don't stock the one I use to have and instead replaced it with the (CM15K). Will vox work with this new model. ?

Feature Requests / Duck Duck Go
« on: November 20, 2011, 12:58:54 PM »
I have used many many search engines but I was reading up on the new Linux mint 12 and found that they are integrating https://duckduckgo.com/ into the new version, so I took it for a spin and gave it a try. I must say duck duck go is really neat. It pulls in a lot of info from many sources, have a look for yourself and check out t there Goodies sections
https://duckduckgo.com/goodies.html and they have an open API

Here is there API page: https://duckduckgo.com/api.html

"Our Zero-click Info API gives you free access to much of our topic summaries (API example), categories (API example), disambiguation (API example), !bang redirects (API example), definitions (API example), and more (API example)."

I think we could make use of this.

What do you think?

« on: October 15, 2011, 04:14:41 AM »
Maybe not anytime soon but after playing with Wolfram|Alpha for a bit ( http://www.wolframalpha.com ) I started thinking it might be a cool integration, with TTS responses. Wolfram seems to almost have an answer for everything.

General Discussion / Gmail - Show Password -
« on: October 12, 2011, 01:52:56 PM »
Hello All.

I am running Vox .910

Is the show password in the gmail settings needed?

There are other members in my house and sometimes if I am not home and someone needs to check google maps for direct or something quick, they will use my computer, which is always on, instead of booting up there laptops. If they come across Vox running this option could possibly give them access to my gmail account, if they select - show password -

Is this a feature that is used or needed? If so, what are the usage examples?

I have not installed the latest version yet, is this also in the new version as well.?

I have a Plantronics voyager pro bluetooth headset the UC version ( http://www.plantronics.com/us/product/voyager-pro-uc ) I found one on ebay for half the price and so far it works perfect with my phone and Vox, the range in my home is nice.

In the mornings the first thing I check before starting the day is my emails, Vox does this perfectly, it would be nice to also check my meetings and or todo list in google calendar.
