Bug Reports / parameter containing only spaces is not saved correctly
« on: April 18, 2014, 01:29:35 AM »
Update: Sorry this should probably be in Command Builder Reference thread, mods please move if possible

I have VC command on VC2v1.9.2.1
When i test it it works via the LCB and testing payloads with save/execute.

I have a command to use a payload dictation of spelling type.  However when the payload gets input, it has trailing spaces which throws my commands off, so
I'm using a results.setlasteresult to record the payload
Then results.replace to strip the spaces via args of 1=(literal space key press), arg2 = default no entry
But I can't get it to save as expected.
Everytime I hit the Save icon and the command doesnt work and I notice in the LCB that the space is no longer in arg1 anymore?
However the  the xml shows a space <param> </param>
Anyone encounter this? Even if though with the test payload, save/execute works is a better alternative for spaces necessary?

I found the log entries below (also of note interesting my log is working, but the Enable Log is unchecked)

Command Builder Reference / Nested Macros?
« on: April 15, 2014, 01:05:01 AM »
Honestly I've been familiarizing about phrases, commands, macros  and events...etc. I've watched some vids and streamed to tv while configuring, which helped with an event trigger today. VC continues to amaze.
I've tried to google search and search the forums and wiki. I've trolled the Action Selection Tree and the LCB Tried to get the semantics straight, but maybe I'm not searching right, but I'll risk asking anyways  :-[
As I interpret it, Macros as VC refers to them are a stored procedure of 1 or more commands.

What I'm curious is and couldn't find was can you call a custom command(macro) from in a macro?
I know I could brute force it but what I was curious is.
This is not what I want to do, but heres a example scenario to hopefully better suggest what I mean.
Such as with XBMC there is commands such as:
Generate XML
Play Movie "Sintel"
Get Subtitles...etc.

Those are separate custom Macros built on the native commands provided by VC.
is it possible to make one Macro that calls all those?
Macro1
  • Generate XML
  • Play Movie "Sintel"
  • What movie is this...etc.

So you could say SuperMacro, and it would do all 3? I know you could obviously make a macro w/ all the commands of each but just curious if you could call an existing macro from within another one?
Sorry I hope  this is clear and I did effort to find the solution, if possible, myself but was unsuccessful. Using VC2v1.9.2.1
I was actually thinking this could make VC useful for repeatable tests/ configuring scenarios in other programs.

What is a good microphone for speech recognition? / Air mouse / remote
« on: January 05, 2014, 05:17:46 PM »
Anyone use something like this? Someone posted something like this on the XBMC forums. I have a wireless remote i like and its similar, but this says theres a mic. So I immediately thought VOX?
I'd prefer hands free but this seemed interesting for certain.

Kodi (XBMC) Frodo / Gotham / Isengard / Jarvis / xbmc plugins payloads
« on: November 07, 2013, 12:50:48 AM »
I use VC to 'stream x' some of the video addons in xbmc, like Food Network, TED, TV Vietnam
Many of these plug ins have a few directories that i'm not interested, after being accustomed to VC negating my need to traverse a bunch of folders i get a bit frustrated by still having to do that :P
Is theres a way to do this in VC, with a payload perhaps?
I love the new voice search w/ Youtube, if only i could get my youtube logon working properly again pulling playlists, but the voice search is hella neat.

For instance Food network will spawn:
Episodes
  Chopped
  Iron Chef
Videos
All Videos

TV VN, pulls a channel directory

I think I could macro or auto scroll down 2, select...etc, but I would love to be like "Stream food network, chopped" and being to direct load like via the media library.
I know this would be difficult without generating XML for plugin/addons, but even if I had to hard code a few that would be nice as I have  a few stalwarts that I think stay static.

XBMC (Old board see 'KODI' above) / PLEX
« on: January 09, 2013, 09:00:19 PM »
I know quite a while ago PLEX spun off from XBMC and forked from the open source XBMC.  I tried to search the threads, but does PLEX support VoxCommando or vice versa?
For various reasons some friends have pointed out some of the PROs of Plex as of yet unavailable in XBMC and I may try to run a hybrid environment or otherwise investigate Plex largely due to its server/client implementation.  Because of the client aspect I'm not sure if there exists remote access to any particular client vs the actual server side so not sure this is possible.  I took VoxCommando home and demo'd to family over the holidays and everyone was amazed by my VoxCommando integration (except the nephews/nieces which the voice recognition had a very tough time recognizing :) )

Other Plugins / IP Webcam (Foscam)
« on: October 04, 2012, 11:13:36 AM »
I just got some FOSCAM 8910 IP Webcams and managed to get hooked into XBMC via STRM files.
So I can see the feeds, but I was hoping I could manipulate the camera and pan directions ...etc.

I know there is web guis and smartphone apps but I was thinking w/ VC this could be great, anyone done these / have insights?

VoxCommando Basics and Core Features / Remote update GenXML?
« on: September 03, 2012, 12:48:40 AM »
I see that I think technically it would be possible to drop a prerecorded wav file on the share.
Not familiar with UDP broadcasts but I have another script that performs tasks and does some manual reconciliation of my XBMC datbase and was curious about on a remote install of VC would it be possible to auto regen genXML after that script completed?
either just maintenance like nightly or ondemand somehow?

XBMC (Old board see 'KODI' above) / Code / Script conversion or port?
« on: August 29, 2012, 12:50:20 PM »
Someone posted on XBMC forums this script that leveraged free API for XBOX live status.
https://github.com/bstrdsmkr/service.XBLFriends

It apparently was not coded cleanly and making a LOT of extraneous calls to the API...and then  I noticed completely stopped working. Finally looked at logs and manually access url to find I was IP blocked due to automated responses to anti spam. Contacted API owner and provided the following
https://github.com/xboxapi/XboxAPI-Scraper-Lib/blob/master/XboxAPI_Scraper.Lib.php

I don't really know JSON or Python nor PHP, but anybody know how to slap these together cleanly so if I can get unbanned script wont reinduce same bad behavoiur....this was a really handy script for me :P

XBMC (Old board see 'KODI' above) / Ability to add a delay?
« on: August 25, 2012, 12:04:06 AM »
I found a script that natively was intended to run as a service that monitors XBOX LIVE and it runs every x mins and tells you of new friends get online. Works relatively well.
Well I thought w/ VC it would be nice to be able to instantiate it anytime i wanted, cause when u do that I will find all the friends from a state like you just got on so you would see ALL your friends and not just those that have gotten on since the previous run. Thus if i just missed it or was eating, if i manually call the script I can see the online status of any friends that are on.

Well i got that well and good.
The problem is, I'm using the XBMCbuntu calling from a remote node so i have the XBMC notifications as the OSD
So when i say 'are any friends on xbox live"
it shows that on screen, and well the script ran and then u kinda of miss the first bit cause the OSD from VC hasn't transitioned away yet?
I didn't see if that was configurable, but can i add a delay so that i say "any friends on xbox live", wait 5 secs, call script?

General Discussion / updating Listen / Computer phrase help?
« on: August 22, 2012, 12:11:22 AM »
I saw the videos and honestly have run into several occasions when ambient and errant dictations of "COMPUTER" happened. I'd like to use some of the cool pop culture computer names of my time but everything I tried doesnt work at all, I know HAL and JARVIS worked per some youtube videos?
I tried to update the phrase line in the voicecommands.xml....but no luck?
I'd like:
Jarvis, Teletran1, ...a myriad of others but to no avail so far?
Help friends?

I tried searching on the main page which encourages contact regarding purchasing questions.
Sorry can't believe I just came across this app, now but have been on Linux and really making me want to swap to windows.  I read the bad reviews for Kinect which I was very hopeful for since I already have one.
Currently using a virtual box VM on my Mac that I always have round and just using the standard mic and its pretty dang good.

So now I'm just trying to see what i want to do and get my setup after demoing and just want to have a better handle on scenarios on how the purchase/licensing works going forward.

Cheers.  Amazing app/efforts.

XBMC (Old board see 'KODI' above) / Skin dependancy - Transparency! ?
« on: August 21, 2012, 02:22:48 AM »
I know XBMC really favors and updates the Confluence skin, while there are some things I like about it, some of the standard views lack some things for me.  I have personally preferred since Dharma and maybe late Camelot, the Transparency! skin.  My question is some of the commands (i thnk Smartlists) for VoxCommando only for some skins (Confluence)?.
