MediaPortal Configuration for 0.912
« on: October 12, 2011, 11:55:11 PM »
Here is the first official release of our MediaPortal Configuration.  Many thanks to Shukuyen for all his help, adding feature to WifiRemote to make this possible.

We still have a long way to go, but this is a big step forward.

edit: you will get a popup saying "readme.txt" is missing.  Don't worry about that. :)

Here's the *unofficial* new version of the wifiremote plugin.  Unzip and place the .dll in the folder (or equivalent for your system):

Code: [Select]
C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\plugins\process
I'm not sure if you need to install the older version of the plugin first, but it won't hurt to do that to be safe.

A few things you need to do to set up.

1) when you first run VoxCommando, go to the plugins tab

- select MPscan  (this is a GenXML plugin for MediaPortal)
- set your MediaPortal database paths if necessary.  VC needs to read these files to Generate Payloads
- leave the "Export XML to folder" as it is:   .\MpPayloads
- click "Save Options"
- click "Scan and Generate"

you should now have a subfolder called "MpPayloads" that contains a bunch of xml files.  Go look inside them if you want.

- click "File" >> "Build Missing Grammars"

all done with VoxCommando for now.  You can start using it, except a few notes about Moving Pictures and Tv-Series in the next post...

Oh and you need to set your connection settings in the two plugins to match

If you want to be able to jump to different view in MediaPortal's Moving Pictures plugin then do the following:

- Open the configuration for the Moving Pictures plugin
- Go to the "GUI Settings" tab
- Make sure that "Organize Movies by Category" is checked
- To edit the categories or see a list of their names, click "Define Movie Categories"

Finally,

- Go to the MediaPortal plugin settings for the MP-TV Series plugin
- Go to the "Views / Filters" tab
- Click the "Add" button
- Type the word "Vox" into the field (without the "quotes")
- Click OK

This is a temporary thing.  We manipulate this "Vox" view "behind the scenes" to trick the MP-TV series to jump to the TV shows we ask for.

That is ALL FOR NOW!

I'm not sure if you need to install the older version of the plugin first, but it won't hurt to do that to be safe.

The installer also copies a WifiRemote.xml keymap file to your MediaPortal\defaults\InputDeviceMappings folder (or InputDeviceMappings\defaults on older MP versions). Without that file commands like left, right, up, down, ok ... will not work.
I will release a new version of WifiRemote tomorrow or on the weekend containing all the changes needed to make this work. It will be Wifiremote version 0.5, keep an eye open for it on our Google Code Page, the MediaPortal download site or in your MediaPortal Extension Installer software.

And now I gotta go install voxcommando and try that sweet thing out :-D

It doesn't work for me, but I am no sure if that is a more general problem.
After install I get the attached error. Also clicking on some menu options crashes the application. Also in the history there is a null pointer exception.

This goes away after I active the MP plugins and "build missing grammars". But then none of my commands is recognized. I guess this is due to me having a German Windows 7 Professional with only the German speech recognition and I found no way to install the English package :-/

Any ideas?

Hi if you have Windows 7 Ultimate you can install language pack with Windows update.
Otherwise, take a look here: http://voxcommando.com/forum/index.php?topic=557.msg3859#msg3859

you should be able to go into options and set the language to german.  It won't work very well after that though unless you edit the commands to use german phrases.

I've just registered so I can say thank you to you and Shukuyen for your work on this!!!

I installed the trial yesterday and love it!!! Will be purchasing a license once I've finished sending this message  :).

Looking forward to seeing further developments in the future.

Thanks again and kind regards,

thanks wo0zy.  welcome to the community.

I take it that you're using mediaportal?  I haven't paid much attention to this lately since it didn't seem like anyone was interested.

Hi James,

Yes, I'm using it with MediaPortal but I will also be testing with WMC when I get.

I hadn't heard of Vox Commando (sorry :o) until I saw the link to here in Shukuyen's post on the MediaPortal forum about the release of WiFi Remote 0.5.

Doing a search on the MP forum reveals that there is a short thread about it in the German section but no English thread.  I wonder if starting one would help raise awareness? I might try and see.

I hope the lack of interest so far doesn't put you off developing it further but I can understand how it might  :(.

Anyway, I've purchased now on the strength of the existing MP functionality and for the amount of fun I can have experimenting with the other great features.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Will hopefully speak to you again soon.

Cheers,

Mick.

if you have any specific issues that you need help with let me know.

if you can drum up some interest from other mediaPortal users that would be great.
