Unable to start search engine
« on: June 09, 2014, 08:23:34 PM »
Team. I've been running the VoxCommando.exe but now all of a sudden I'm getting a Unable to start search engine error.
I'm only getting it on VoxCommando.exe and not VoxCommandoSP.exe.
I would use SP but my microphone works best with VoxCommando.exe.

I have no idea what this is really.  Try to reboot first.  If that does not work then try a fresh install and let us know if it works.

Try to unplug and replug your microphone.

If not, then maybe you have corrupted something in your Windows installation?  You can try to see if Windows built in speech recognition works.

You can try to uninstall and reinstall your language packs.  How you do this will depend on which version of Windows you are using.

by chance are you running office communication server on the machine?   what os are are you running?  when did you do updates last?

double check that you have the correct language selected in the settings. (en-us vs en-gb, etc)

Also I notice you are running vox 1.9.3.3.  It may be worth a try on the latest http://voxcommando.com/forum/index.php?topic=1443.0

last....  read this.  http://stackoverflow.com/questions/16856798/speech-recognition-c-sharp
Might not be related but at the bottom  "The problem was that I installed language packs that can be accessed by Microsoft.Speech and I was using System.Speech, when I switched to Microsoft.Speech it worked."

Thanks Team, but I already re-installed. It as a pretty fresh install anyways and I have everything partitioned off. So I just had to re-install a few programs.

But on a brighter note, It's working again...lol...So I'm happy  ;D
