When it appears that VC is not hearing you, does switching to red (off) and then back to green have any effect?

No it has no effect.. Well not at least straight away..  It is strange, the problem happens about 1 in 4 times when restarting VoxCommander.  For the last day for instance I have not touched the XML file and all has been fine.  Brian has continuously been responsive with no issue.  It seems only when I'm editing away at the XML and then rebooting am I having any issues.  Once he is up and running, he runs well.  So it seems anyway...

I will send logs as soon as I have access to the machine, girlfriend is watching Skins :D

Hi, installed VC on my computer couple of days ago, and joined forum today to see if I could get some help with some trouble I¨ve been having.

It seems to be pretty much the same thing going on as in this post. I use a desktop USB-mic, VC sends commands mostly to eventghost to controll amplifier, projector, tuner, lights etc. And it works great, other than every now and again it just seems to stop picking up sounds, it still logs any events happening in the log, but the program doesn¨t pick up anything I¨m saying. Mic still works when I go into recording devices it picks up my voice fine.

To fix it I have to either a "Full restart" or "Build missing grammar". Going onto the PC and switch between green, yellow, red, doesn¨t help either.

I started making changes only two days ago so my build isn¨t very big, or complex. All is pretty much left unchanged, just added some simples phrases and payload lists to make events in Eventghost

Any help is very appreciated :)

Sorry about hijacking your thread here but seemed to be some of the same problems we are having.

Hi Erikstok and welcome in the VC Forum.
It is possible to post us your "voicecommand.xml" and if you have the log file from the VC main folder?
This can us help to solved the problem.

Kalle

PS: You used a 32bit or 64bit windows?

please do the following (exactly as written) so I can try to figure out what is happening.

1) enable logging in the "options" dropdown menu on the main VC window.
2) run VoxCommando and use it normally until the problem occurs (stops responding).
3) click on red (off), wait 2 seconds, then click on green (listen) again.
4) try a few different voice commands.

if VC is still not "hearing you" then do the following:

5) close VoxCommando.
6) Zip your ENTIRE VC folder up into a .zip or .rar file and send it to us.

to send the file: You can either try to upload it here as an attachment, or if it is too big you can change filename of the .zip to .jpg and email it to me (info {atsymbol} voxcommando {dottythingcomthing you know what I mean} ;) or you can use dropbox or something

Hopefully we can learn something from this!

Thanks.

I am hoping Erikstok will do it too, since it sounds like you are having two different but possibly related problems.  Of the hundreds of VC users no one else has reported anything like this so unless you give me something to work with there will never be a fix.

Hello! Sorry to bump this old post. I was reading this thread in hopes that the solutions is posted at the end. So was this problem ever solved? Because I am having the exact same problem using a logitech G390 and also the same when I use my Blue Yeti USB Mic.

Thank you and sorry again =D. Or should I send my log file also?

Hello mercium and welcome in VC-Forum. Yes it would be helpful when you post your voxlog.txt file here in the forum and if it is possible the voicecommands.xml too.

There are some other points of interest:

1. Which VoxCommando Version did you use (please do not say the latest)?
2. Which  installation of VC did you use (XBMC, MediaMonkey, blank, ...)
3. Did you create your own commands?
4. Did you tried a untouched VC installation in a other folder too and it shows the same problems?
5. Did you tried in the advanced settings "Time to Reinitialize Microphone" http://voxcommando.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=Options#Time_to_Reinitialize_Microphone

I'm sure the problem in this thread was solved, but we get no feedback from the users  :'(

Thank you for the reply Kalle.[attachment=1]

Doing the reinitialize mic on advanced options seem to fix the problem. But is this safe to do? I feel like this is going to cause more problems down the road hehe

But anyway, I've attached my log and voice commands.

The problem (mic disconnecting or not hearing anything), happens when I say the command for goodbye weather everytime. So that might be one thing to look at on the log.

This problem used to happen everytime when I open xbmc with voice command (launch xbmc commands). I kind of found a work around for this by adding VC.off then VC.off for each "launch xbmc" commands. That also seemed to work. But the problem still happen randomly while I'm doing other xbmc commands, sorry I don't have it on the log because it's very random.

I tried to use the VC.off then VC.on workaround for "goodbye weather" but that did not work.

I hope these are enough info. Please do let me know If I left out anything.

Thank you so much again for your help!

---EDIT---
I found an xbmc command that messes up the mic. I have attached the log with it. It's the "What movie is this" command[attachment=3]

Hi mercium, thanks for posting your logfiles :bignod

It looks like it has nothing to do with your microphone.

When you use XBMC Frodo on your PC,

1. did you installed the voxtools addon in XBMC? http://voxcommando.com/forum/index.php?topic=1073.msg9010#msg9010 and here the video link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-9QNjEdNhI&list=PL5EB7936BE8F07625

2. you use very often the same phrases with many optional phrases  - it is possible that some phrases cross over and VC hangs.

3. also same command names (I'm wondering that VC does not show a piece of advice  ::hmm   )

[attachment=1]

Anyway, please try following:
Disable all groups, which comes not with VC or which you have modified (you can do this easy by clicking on the "green" group icon in VC main window "Groups" (do not restart VC). Then test the existing commands and if this works, enable one of the created/modified group and test the commands from this group if the commands work, next group ...
So you can find out which command/group is the problem.
One question: Did you tried a VC-XBMC Frodo installation when VC ask you for after when you run VC for the first time - and does it working without the problem?

I've already had xbmc Frodo for months even before I installed xbmc (which was two days ago) So that might not be the problem.
But Yes I should rename some of those commands as to not have duplicates andI will try all your suggestion once I get a chance. Thank you so much!

--- EDIT----
I have tried disabling everything and try groups one by one. I haven't tried everything yet but Any of the commands that I say from "XBMC Get Now Playing Info" group creates the problem even if that group is the only enabled one. The same with the "Goodbye weather wunder" group. So the problem is within those groups. I can't seem to figure out what. I'll still keep looking around though.

Also I noticed this all started when I started using VOXWAV pro for android and using AEON MQ5 for XBMC.

Did you installed voxtools addon for XBMC?

http://voxcommando.com/forum/index.php?topic=1073.msg9010#msg9010 and here the video link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-9QNjEdNhI&list=PL5EB7936BE8F07625

This is necessary for XBMC-Frodo

You have in your weather commands at first a "WUnder.Refresh" action without any parameter - skip this action by type a 0 (zero) in the repeat parameter. The repeat field (on the far right of the action) specifies how many times to perform the action. The default is 1. Set it to 0 to disable the action.

Hi mercium. I think it would be a good idea for you to describe the actual problem you are having (in as much detail as possible / see the forum rules) since you have picked up on someone else's thread but I believe their problem was different from yours. At this point it is not clear to me what your actual problem is, which makes it difficult to suggest a course of action.

Some things you might try...

- Disable smooth volume changes in the xJSON plugin settings.
- In VC options general tab under TTS, enable the option "don't listen during TTS.speaksync".
- Answer Kalle's questions.
