VoxCommando has stopped working
« on: November 29, 2011, 03:39:10 AM »
Fault bucket , type 0
Event Name: CLR20r3
Response: Not available
Cab Id: 0
After al youtube video's I'd wanted to try it as well. Unfortunatly I'm cant get it to work :(

Windows just says stopped working.

Im running Windows 7 Ultimate EN x64
I found in the error in the eventviewer, but it's pretty non-descript. I also included the WER file.

I installed it in the c:\voxcommander, as requested. Gave it every possible privilege. Even installed .Net4.0 to make sure that wasn't it.
The regular windows voice recognition works like a charm.
So I have no clue as to what could be the problem. I do think that you should add more error-handling to the tool, even a log-file. That could help people out...

I hope you can help me out, so I could try the software.

Thnx!

Hi Angelus,

That's pretty weird, but I'm sure we can figure it out.

You are correct there is no useful information there other than the fact that it appears to be failing to find a file.  Stupid windows doesn't even bother to tell us which file. :bonk

You can start by telling us what version of VoxCommando you are using, and when the error occurs, (as soon you as you try to run it, or does something appear first?)

Is there any error message that appears, not in event viewer, but in a pop-up window?  Any details button?

looks like you are using 0.921 from the main download page.

If you want you can try this beta to see if it is any different:

http://voxcommando.com/forum/index.php?topic=659.msg4712#msg4712

btw there is error checking (there can always be more of course), and there is a log but it seems that it is crashing before it loads anything.

As you say, it crashes before it does even anything...

I isntalled the beta 0.930, same behavior.

What I did:
Deleted the directory
Ran download file and installed it in c:\voxcommando\
Files are extracted
Run the exe
Selection of preset configuration and EULA screen.
I select XBMC (tried others, still fails)
Select Use this configuration
Program restarts
Windows error: VoxCommando has stopped working after about a second
No other information or buttons or anything.

I am clueless...

Perhaps you have a list of includes that you use in your solution? I could try to figure out what to use?
Do you for instance require a specific C++  library?
I've got the feeling it is some sort of library that's missing.

I have 2 sound outputs, SPDIF and Jack, that shouldn't matter I think.

Found it!

I installed it on my other PC where it worked. I then compared the c++ libraries and windows objects. It seemed that on my HTPC the .NET 3.5 libraries (part of windows installed items) was not available. I installed those and that (obviously  :bonk) solved the problem...

Thank you for lettings us know.  I'm really glad you told us that.  It crossed my mind that you might be missing .net 3.5 but then I figured "That's impossible! I comes pre-installed in windows 7!"

but I guess not, unless at some point you removed it?

I will look into this more and see if there is a way to detect if the user has the required .net libraries on startup.  Otherwise at the least I will be specific about it in the install instructions.

I hope it is smooth sailing for you from now on!

I thought the same thing... It couldn't be NOT there.
But I probably did went to far in cleaning up 'unused' windows stuff.
I hope you figure something out detecting it to help other moron's avoiding this mistake :)

thnx for the assistance though.

I'm getting this problem too on my work computer, Windows 7 64 bit enterprise edition (if that matters) I ran the net framework checker and 3.5 sp1 is installed and it claims working properly. Dunno if this matters but I'm trying to get it to work with an Amulet remote.

any ideas?

I would try to reinstall .net 3.5

If that doesn't work, I don't really know but you should try to describe the exact problem you are having in as much detail as possible, along with any error messages you might get.  You should also tell us what version of VoxCommando you are using.  Do you have another microphone you can try?  Have you used VoxCommando on another machine successfully?

I tried reinstalling NET 3.5 it doesn't seem to do anything. Voxcommando wise I've tried about 10 different versions. 965b being the latest, 956 the newest non beta. The second I launch it I get the "has stopped responding" message.

Sorry. I don't think there is anything that can be done other than trying it on another system, and/or reinstalling windows.
