8start Launcher

hi

8start Launcher is a free portable application launcher, I created 8start Launcher because I believe there should be a convenient way to access application than using windows start menu, quick launch and desktop. Windows desktop look messy if too many shortcuts in the desktop, windows start menu become hard to access if too many applications installed in the computer, windows quick launch not suitable to handle too many shortcuts.

This is kind of cool. I am going to check it out, I am all for minimal desktop.

I actually don't even have any apps installed on my computer, I use Liberkey for everything ( http://www.liberkey.com/en.html )

I put a laptop hard drive in a USB3/SATA external case and load all my portable apps on it and use liberkey to manage it.. There is a portable app for almost every app. I love that VC does not need to be installed  ;D

So this means that only games are installed on my computer, everything else runs off my portable drive.

I find it strange that Liberkey sounds so unfamiliar, I was a bit off on the portable apps thing, but I have been an advocate of PortableApps.com as their launcher, (similar to the one posted above) keeps updates in check automatically. In conjunction with my 22GB dropbox, it helps keeps all my apps updated, in sync and highly available.  While the updating doesn't work it does 'support' non 'portableapps' apps too.

I started out using portable apps, and used it for a very long time but, I wanted more options. Liberkey does the same things as portable apps such as auto updates and all, but offers a bit more customization and a larger library of apps.
It also supports the portable app format so you can install all your favorite portable apps on liberkey, best of both worlds.
