What would you name your VC now with sexy TTS
« on: October 21, 2010, 10:54:04 AM »
So i've been doing some modifying of commands and i realize that the more you add commands the more likely it is for VC to mistake what you are saying, so i got Neospeech TTS engine - Julie, to get rid of that awful microsoft enigine and The neospeech engine sounded so natural i decided to call it Anna, yes i why not julie, bleh  :P i like anna  ;D.  Now instead of saying listen i say Anna, or anna what song is this, now it no longer mistakes my breathing for the word "the".

So anyway what would you name you voice? oh and if anyone wants julie i'm willing to pass her around.....wait that doesnt sound right  ::) let me and i'd put it up on megaupload

Love, Peace and chicken grease ;D

I appreciate the reference to neospeech.  You can try out their demo and get more information here: http://www.neospeech.com/

The demo sounds extremely good to me.  As far as I can tell, this software is not free, so please don't discuss distributing it on this forum. >:(

I have found that you can add a very large number of commands (virtually limitless) provided that you do not create commands that sound like one another.  Especially longer commands with at least 2 or 3 words will not be likely to get confused with each other as long as you have a decent microphone.  If you create a bunch of different commands such as "do it" "don't" "dot" "ditto" etc.  then obviously the software is going to have a hard time distinguishing which one you are saying.

I'm not sure what I would call her.  I call my car "Carmen" but that is because it is an Elantra.  But no one ever seems to get the joke... :bonk

Currently I call my computer pickles, but I'm not sure that would be appropriate if I were to give her a sexy voice.

If you don't want your computer to sound sexy then I suggest trying out Loquendo Dave.  He is easy to understand, and always good for a laugh.

Has any one figured out how to install or purchase voices from Loquendo? I have been set on Grace from Australia as my default. Of corse I have found no way to download and install. i am willing to try most anything. Oh and if Grace works out My VC would attain the name Gracie. Thanks.

Madness, I did a little searching on the internet and:

The standard price for a TTS license is as follows:

Loquendo TTS SDK (Software Development Kit): 1.500,00 €
Loquendo TTS Katrin: 1.000,00 €
Total price: 2.500,00 €

For students / universities, we have a special offer:

Loquendo TTS SDK and a voice, so TTS TTS Katrin and Stefan, for
together € 1,050.00 (excluding VAT)

The basic condition for the reduced price: non-commercial use,
only for research and development work.

You don't need an SDK and it should not be that expensive to buy a single voice.

here is a possible resource: http://sites.fastspring.com/nextup/product/acapela

You guys are awesome. I am fairly new to forums, being a big do it yourselfer, but you guys are better than any company I have ever had to deal with. I think I have it worked out and Loquendo is quite rediculous on pricing.

I'll be naming mine "Lucille", just like Uncle Phil's cue stick in the poolhall episode of The Fresh Prince.  It'll get a chuckle out of my buddies.   "Jeffery, break out Lucille!"
